Japanese prisons lack Western-style heating, air-conditioning or beds.
Nearly all Japanese homes lack the first two and many don't have the third.
Most if not all Japanese homes use a Kotatsu for heating. I’ve stayed in few homes in Japan whilst visiting family, they all have AC (Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric are world leaders) and they all have western beds. Futons are more for guests.

Ok a lot of judgement here, I want to think this is the 21st century where this woman can be helped rather than punished.

Not greed at all, Johansson is an A list star who if she accepts a film role it makes it much easier for the producers to get funding. She’s done a lot of indie films that would have been made if she’d not been there.
The problem with Disney is by going straight to streaming it made a negative impact on her bankability as a leading actress. The producers of her next film may not be able to burrow as much next time.

I'm not turning my AC because I want to get that 2000 points for saving energy.
