Sounds like he just needed to set the chicken down somewhere so his hands could be freed up for the task at hand: Stealing her undergarments from her clothesline.

What a joke.

In season 2, she ditches the fiancé for a gaijin boyfriend, instantaneously sending 80+ million ojajis into the ultimate tizzy, a la the UK where half the country and press got all mad about a black lady moving into the Royal Palace and forced their young prince to pack up his young family and hit the bricks.

When you're 'governed' by people as incompetent as the bureaucratic HACKS who 'run' the Japanese government (or the US government, for that matter), why in the hell would you listen to much of anything they were trying to tell you to do with your life???

Who the hell would take a Chinese knockoff vaccine when there are proper American ones?

And I bet that dude and his whole family wind up in prison now. He probably should've just kept his mouth shut.

Nobody is coming. Nobody is watching. Nobody cares.

Save your money and throw in the towel there buddy.

Kill it before it dies.

As long as your child isn't a female between the ages of 7-11, the walk to school should be safe as your child isn't a sex object openly glorified by Japanese mass media.

I think this poll settles it.

Let's get it into a PowerPoint, get it notarized, and get a custom critical parcel service to overnight it to the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo.

I think this happens the world over, but I wonder if it's more common in Japan because the whole adoption thing is pretty frowned upon there? My Japanese wife and I have one kid and I can't get her past the first 30 seconds of a conversation about adopting a second. I've heard similar tales from my counterparts.

This was never about sport. This was about "If we spend $15 billion on all this stuff, the world will pay attention to and actually notice Japan for two whole weeks! It'll be great!!" Not exactly what it will take to solve any of that country's deep-seated problems...

Posted in: Even before the coronavirus, were you in favor of Tokyo hosting the 2020 Olympics? See in context

As an American I shouldn't care, but as the uncle of some Japanese kids in Japan, I don't think it was a good call.

The whole thing was always about "let's spend $15B so the world pays attention to Japan for 2 weeks, it'll be great!"

Japan is a demographic and public funding time bomb. $15B would have been better spent trying to get their dinosaur corporate culture to move to a work-from-home model, allowing people to move back to the prefectures and raise families with space.

Posted in: Fans from abroad unlikely for postponed Tokyo Olympics See in context

Japan can still save the Olympics. Sure, the gaijin can't come now, not not all is lost.

The Olympics, when they come to Japan every few cycles or so anyway, are little about sport. Rather, they are meant to get the rest of the world to actually notice Japan for a couple of weeks.

For 2 weeks, billions of people will potentially find our that Japan has 4 seasons (the only country in the world to have that, by the way), learn all about very famous tea ceremonies; maybe even find out all about the breakthrough new smartphone hitting the market from Sony, meant to compete with the iPhone 6s.

So with a little creative Zoom activity, we can still have the Summer of J-Love!

Posted in: Myanmar police fire on protesters in ancient former capital See in context

Left-leaning diplomat types are ultimately responsible for this mess.

When Aung San Suu Kyi went back to her government 'to help', she was fresh off the shoulders of all the feel-good Western liberals, where she'd been paraded all over the place for being a 'woman of color' who won a Nobel Peace Prize and was going to go back and get gay marriage going, stop climate change, and what happened? She helped commit more atrocities.

Well, all the white liberals had egg on their face when that started happening a number of years back, so they all collectively decided to sit this one out.
