This is Japan. Japanese law. There is nothing that an Ambassador can do.

Japan, be forewarned, this is absolutely chilling. No foreign talent would consider coming to Japan to work. This is on Japan. A major loss for Japan's future growth. Between this and the border closures, Japan is returning to an earlier period in history. Very isolated from the world's advances.

........ Would not want to overdo it.......

And, now that those students have been treated like this, will they stay in Japan after graduation? Japan is cutting it's own nose off despite its self. Japan is gonna need folks like this in the future.

Posted in: What’s the latest advice on the type of mask I should wear? See in context

Before I was vaccinated I always wore an N95 mask. Hand washing, proper clothing changes, etc. are a must. Single or even multiple layer simple cloth mask are generally ineffective. Now I never wear a mask. Also, do consider wearing a mask if your are obese or are diabetic. The American government generally does not tell anyone that the largest majority of folks having bad Covid-19 experiences have major risk factors.

Posted in: Taylor hits walk-off HR as Dodgers beat Cardinals 3-1 in wild-card See in context

A pitching duel between two quality athletes. The Cardinals had more than 10 chances to score a run, with a runner in "scoring position". They did not. Of course I am disappointed.

The Dodgers spent a lot of money to add great players to their team. The Cardinals being in a smaller business market, have less money to buy players. Throughout my life I have always enjoyed Major League Baseball. Not sure if I will continue to watch overpaid players vs small market, overpaid players.

..... ""seriously ill""....... and what is Japan's definition of seriously ill, compared with the US, for example? I have a feeling that there are many folks in the hospitals in Japan that might not be in the US........, but at the same time, others should be hospitalized!

Please boycott China. Anything to do with China. Consider where your purchases come from. Vote for, and advise your leaders to be careful of China. And when I say "China", mean the CCP. The people of China are being taken for a ride by their dictator! I have known many Chinese people and they are all wonderful folks.

Nope. This is not how you learn a language. This is not how you interest most foreigners in learning about Japan or learning Japanese. —- Finally, the spoken word here is said much too fast for beginners to pick-up new vocabulary.

No. Japanese thought processes are firmly linked to their past history. Their history is one of isolation and different ways of considering things.
