Posted in: Japan to ban possession of child porn, but manga, anime exempt See in context

I'm all for the outlawing of child pornography. Involving real children only. What an adult does with their favorite fictional or cartoon kid is their business. Like with violent movies,,video games, comic books etc . the armchair sociologists are quick to place the blame. It's a lot more complex issue than what you read or even listen too. For example, do you people who are posting really believe that rock music causes people to suicide? Or foul languages causes aberrant behavior?

Don't care. This is one of the reasons I don't read mainstream comics. They are more like soap operas.

Couldn't this idea be used to get people to do other things? Maybe cooking, learn a foreign language, math, etc. It might make for a new twist on typical dating sims.

Posted in: Why does the existence of AKB48 bother so many readers of Japan Today (judging from the comments on the discussion board)? See in context

This is my first post. I guess if you live in Japan you might get sick of them because of their presence everywhere.Like here with the endless talk of Kardashians,Lohans,Perrys, etc. I'm kinda surprised they're still so popular. I've heard many bloggers comment how the Japanese get excited about something new but, then the novelty soon fades away. Japan has created a seemingly unstoppable pop-monster.They don't bother me.But, then again I'm here in the U.S.
