Longer trains on lines where most stations could be extended - maybe they won’t stop at stations where the don’t fit. Two story carriages - there are some already but there should be more. Some ‘standing only’ carriages, but not all.

I realize these ideas would require significant investment by rail companies, but such intense overcrowding must provide significant revenue

Limits to the numbers of people permitted in carriages. Paint footprints on the floor. No standing between prints. Overcrowding can’t be safe or healthy, and if workers CAN’T reach work it would provide more incentive for companies/ commuters to help solve the problem.

And definitely cycling! Sadly most of my commutes are at least 2 hours each way.

Definitely subtitles! Dubbing messes with the whole ambiance of a film.

Many cyclists do ride dangerously on the sidewalk. However I doubt that any of the cycling fatalities occurred on the sidewalk. They will have happened on roads, at intersections and crossings, and will typically involve a car as well.

Really good initiative from this library. I had a library refuge in my teenage years. It was important to me, and helped me through a difficult time, and books have continued to be refuges and mentors throughout my life.

There are always so many 'experts' telling people how they should live their lives!

"...and to eventually introduce more dedicated cycling lanes on busy streets." We need them now! I ride on the sidewalk because the road isn't safe. I've never collided with a pedestrian (although once a Japanese cyclist collided with me in a shopping street.) And don't forget that cars are dirty, expensive, planet polluting inventions, while bicycles are not.
