Posted in: Less than 3% of Japanese firms exiting Russia; lowest among G7: survey See in context

I think a full list of International / Global businesses in Russia should be published, with their countries listed.

Something like that may help stop businesses from still operating in Russia.

I hear there are many international chains still operating in Russia.

Wouldn't it be nice to know which companies really care and which don't.

Can't believe how stupid the Japanese Government is, They want to spur the economy and this is their answer..... Most of the Parents that get this money for their kids will just put it into a savings account for them to use many years later.

Government money (if they have funds to give away...) should go to single mothers, people who lost their jobs due to the Pandemic, part-time workers whose hours were cut People in the service, Travel industries etc.

They need to use funds to save the small business owners in the small tourist towns or the small business owners in the strip malls (商店街) throughout Japan.

If this ¥¥¥ were to be sent to my child, I know it will just go into his savings account for the future & won't make a difference.

The roll out for the My number cards was such a joke, and continues to be. Typical Japanese style....

just pick a deadline and get on with it, LIKE every other country in the world.

How soon we forget.....

The risk of restarting the nuclear reactors are too great, yet the politicians choose that over more safer renewable energy sources. For some reason, most Nuclear reactors are built close to the ocean like Dai-Ichi in Fukushima. The earthquake - Tsunami situation will again be a matter of time. Not if, but When.

Posted in: Is setting targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions an effective way to reduce the adverse effects of climate change? See in context

Japan accounts for only 3% of the total GHGs released world wide. Even if Japan reduced the GHGs output to zero, its still more effective to get China, USA, India or Russia to reduce their output. Hope Biden will make some change, cause I'm sure China and India don't really care.

Also Japan (and other G-20 countries) should be helping emerging countries create efficient global friendly energy resources, to reduce their GHG emissions as well.

I think the targets need to be global based, not country based.

Posted in: 4-year-old boy fatally struck by station wagon in Tokyo; driver arrested See in context

This accident happened a few blocks from where I live. I don't know if this driver was speeding or not or looking at his cell phone at the time of the accident, but there are too many cars driving fast and carelessly through our residential areas. I am always nervous for the kids on my street.

So on our block I started teaching the Kids to yell out "Car Coming!" when they see a car, They are happy to shout in English and all the kids now stop when someone shouts this regardless if they are riding a bike, skateboard or Kick bike etc. until the car passes by.

I wasn't at the scene, but don't be quick to blame the parents, I'm sure that it happened in front of their eyes... Kids all play in the street in front of their house with parent(s) watching. I hope his older brother didn't witness the accident.

I hope there will be more police out to stop speeding drivers through the residential neighborhoods.
