same system as flying from toronto or vancouver to the u.s. you go through u.s. immigration at the depature airport, so you just get off the plane at your u.s. destination.
i did it once in toronto and stood in line for an hour.
That also happened to my flight in Vancouver while connecting on to my US flight. There was only one US border officer for our flight and half of us, including myself, ended up missing our connecting flights to US destinations. That was the last time I went through Vancouver on a US bound connecting flight.

f not, what's the point? If so, then passengers going to Japan can go through South Korea to Japan and would skip immigration in Japan once touching down in Japan.
That's a good point but I think that it only applies if you show a korean passport
Wait a minute. That would lead to more confusions because pre-clearance means going to a border pre check in another country so your flight would be treated more as a domestic, rather than an international flight. So, as you said, if it only applies if you show a Korean passport, how would that work when you go through security in Seoul and on your flight when you touchdown in Japan? I'm not disagreeing with you, but just asking?

So, would this preclearance be like the US preclearance at selected worldwide airports where the US bound flights would be treated like domestic flights? If not, what's the point? If so, then passengers going to Japan can go through South Korea to Japan and would skip immigration in Japan once touching down in Japan.

A couple of things on this. 1. I'll believe it when I see it. 2. How will they implement this? By making people stay at work a little longer to compensate for the extra holiday? This might work in other countries that implement work flexibility on its employees. However, work culture in Japan is mostly rigid without much for flexibility. Just saying.

The pair now face charges of disrespecting a place of worship, with the woman, a Kesennuma resident in her 40s, already admitting guilt. The man, on the other hand, has said that he would not make a statement until he had a lawyer present,
Though, I don't condone this, wise decision on his part, since I'm guessing he's not from around there and didn' know the laws about this.

Posted in: Los Angeles is in a 4-year sprint to deliver a car-free 2028 Olympics See in context
t will never work. LA has the worst and most congested highway on the plant and it seems that every 20 years they add a new lane hoping it will ease traffic congestion, when I was a kid it was 3 lanes and now they’re at 5 and traffic is worsening, stopping cars from traveling for 17 days would devastate the economy further than it’s already going through and what about crime, the 52k homeless roaming the streets of that city. Newsom is so out, don’t think they can make it in 4 years.
As an LA native, I definitely have high hopes for the city on most things, but local traffic isn't one of them. I do agree with you. This "car-free" Olympics idea might work in other parts of the US, but LA ain't one of them for the same reason. As far as I can remember growing up in LA, and even now, Angelinos have mostly relied on cars. You can see it most everywhere. But don't take my word for it, just google the local LA news/traffic reports and you will get your facts. Also, good luck on their speedy train project between LA and Vegas. There's always been some political and budget problems halting the project.

I'll throw back to the 80's and a time when people got "summer bonuses ", the yen was higher, family holidays were still popular.
Yes, my wife told me about this, and I feel really jealous that I didn't teach in Japan much earlier.
I really missed those days when the yen to the US dollar was just below 100. (sigh) That was an excellent time to travel. Nowadays, we just do our bargain hotel and weather checking when traveling (mostly around Japan). There are still some great hotel bargains out there. I do miss my home country, but the yen has been terrible for the past few years. Who can really afford to travel outside Japan?

show of unity at Republican convention
Oh, yes. There's plenty of unity at the RNC Convention. There was unity in watching Trump sleeping, on the big screen. There was unity where Matt Gaetz was behaving like a child with Kevin McCarthy. There was unity when Speaker Mike said before the convention that Biden couldn't speak without a teleprompter, while at the convention, Mike's teleprompter when out of order while he was in the middle of introducing the Attorney General, but later abandons the intro. and walks away. And there was unity where Giuliani fell drunk on a few seats on the floor and needed help by a few officials there. Check for yourself. It's all there.

Most Japanese and westerners are not used to spicy food. I have met many foreigners who can’t eat Thai food and only eat McDonald’s when traveling to countries with spicy dishes. Also these chips are aimed at people over 18. Children should not be given or sold these chips. Hopefully the government steps in to control their sale.
I believe this. I grew up on Mexican food. In fact, I was given La Victoria hot sauce when I was a toddler, as I'm sure a lot of toddlers from Latino families. My relatives put lemon and Tabasco sauce on their popcorn. No problems for me. Just goes back to taking caution when eating that or anything that you're not familiar with.

If you also notice the RNC Convention, Trump has been shown sleeping at his own convention on their big screen. Rep. Mike Johnson accusing Biden of not being able to speak without a teleprompter, whereas Johnson's teleprompter quits on him just before introducing the Attorney General, and just leaves without introducing him.
So, yes. There is a big contrast between the two Parties.

Posted in: Trump appears with bandaged ear at Republican convention See in context
The combination is a very poor representation of government. If you heard what James Donald Bowman (his real name) said about Trump back in 2016 and even a little later than that, you will know how he really felt about Trump. Along with this, those of you who remembered about Bowman, he claimed he was for the "working man." However, this is far from the truth. If you researched about him, he was and is getting kick backs from NRA, which have supported his income other than his current position. Just check out his previous interviews for your information. He even said back in 2016 that he'd rather vote for a third party or even his dog, than to vote for Trump.
