If all is well, then why spend billions of yen to build a wall?

Because the price of the wall is decided by the TEPCO and alike, picture it as a continuous money diversion pipe open, they will certainly not close the flow by themselves...

Coming from the left, that's means: we have nothing else to go on And zero policies of our own. Keep trying, shouldn't have squandered the last 8 years.

Coming from the left, coming from the left...humm, so for you... nobody from the right is against hate and racism ?

Of course, that would be very hard to explain the hypocrisy if NK is currently sanctioned for developing nuclear weapon but Japan allowed to do it...

The discovery came as President Donald Trump stoked the controversy over the statues, echoing white nationalists by decrying the removal of what he said were "beautiful" monuments to the pro-slavery Confederacy.

Should someone have any doubt DT is a white supremacist.

Summer + heat + Humidity...that does not stop my local metro station to not provide air conditioner on the underground platform except on a small 2mx2m glass box, I am wondering how is no more old people and asthma prone people collapsing there.

PS: They do not provide Air Conditioner to the customers waiting on the platform but if you go into their office to ask the reason why there is no Air Conditioner down there, you will get the answer that it is not working (now for 3 years) while noticing their own Air Conditioner is working pretty well & at full speed.

Putin has just a little to do with it, DT is so unfit and I feel sorry for the US (and for the world), he does act more like a dangerous clown with unlimited power than a calm and focused President with knowledge and education.

Japan marks 72nd anniversary of its surrender in WWII

Maybe time to mark it as the anniversary of the "end of the war" instead of the "country's surrender".

Dan LewisToday  08:37 am JST

I'm surprised nobody has mad a "comfort woman" pillow.

So unrespectful for the memory of those women who had been forced to sleep in bed with soldiers, as long as I will read comment like this one, the world will need more memorial days to help people to understand what was wrong and what was right.

Posted in: Japan on alert after report of N Korea's nuclear-tipped missile threat See in context

Japan's newest white paper on defense, published Tuesday, referred to the possibility that North Korea has already succeeded in miniaturizing a nuclear warhead given that the country has already conducted five nuclear tests.

Looking at the picture posted, seeing how "the possibility that North Korea has already succeeded in miniaturizing a nuclear warhead" turned into "successfully produced a nuclear warhead". Ok that is a real claim but what are the new evidences ? So far, disclosed facts have been NK PR's claims, a picture of the NK leader taken in front of a disco ball and... seismic data, I remember that every planes sent to sniff radioactive radiation after each quake failed to detect anything so I am eager to know what are the so new proof that NK has "successfully produced a nuclear warhead" ?

The US forces could clearly blow North Korea off the map right now; so what is stopping them from doing so?

Because we are in world where we do not blow sovereign countries just based on words spoken only, wait....maybe not anymore since DT.

The only connection here is "to know ABE" , same as when you want to open a business somewhere where it is not allowed or a right wings school.

ABENOMICS achievements so far

. MyNumber and your Bank account tied to it

. Nuclear Reboot

. Allowing Arms Industries

. Allowing Casinos,

. Fly a toy go to jail law

. Consumption Tax to be doubled

. Attempt to change a pacifist country into a militarist one thought rewrite of the constitution

. Secrecy Bill

I am still puzzled why Japanese are still voting for more of this....

Posted in: S Korea starts review of 'comfort women' deal with Japan See in context

I am not sure why most of the posters think SK wants more money and so is doing a review, maybe they should read again the article, it is about the opinions of the victims who were not consulted apparently at the signature and Tokyo's refusal to take legal responsibility.

"whether the opinions of the victims have been fully reflected in the agreement"

A group of 12 comfort women filed a lawsuit against Seoul last year for signing the agreement without their consent and despite Tokyo's refusal to take legal responsibility.

Maybe this person became crazy and violent because nobody is doing anything against those smartphone attackers, so usual to see them riding bicycle while reading their phones, this must stop and police should have zero tolerance to this, only by fining them, hitting their wallet, they will learn how to be aware of the surrounding people.

He said some officers are too courteous to suspected criminals when arresting them.

After all the police brutality reported in the US including just recently a woman shot I found his remark vulgar and inappropriate, in addition, keyword here is "suspected", but I guess it means nothing to him, soon to read, similar to heath care protection, trials and judges are waste of state money, only he is caring for his wall...

Posted in: Moving expenses of stalker, domestic violence victims to be paid for with public funds See in context

the police department will assist in covering the cost of moving to ensure victims' safety. Specifically, victims and their families who are at risk of physical harm and do not possess adequate finances will be paid up to 70,000 yen to cover relocation expenses.

Basically throwing 70,000 yen MAX to avoid to avoid to take care of the issue so they are saving money, but like I wrote, the article is written like they will ensure your safety by covering the cost of moving, if you do not have enough money to relocate, 70,000 yen will never help you to do it.
