When I visited, Kitakyushu had the best sandwich shops I've ever been to. Period, not just in Japan. That was quite a long time ago, though.

Didn't 13 used to be legal in Japan? Oh, the good ol' days before they pruded up like the wank jobs in North America.

What a great way to cheapen the meaning of a Master's degree even more. It's already the new bachelor's degree, pretty soon it'll be the new associate's degree.

Japan needs to move corporations out of major metropolitan areas to encourage people to move to more suburban and rural areas. Cities are terrible places for kids to grow up.

What a perfect way to let China beat you to market and scoop up all the international contracts. Japan needs to stop being so Japan.

Most in urban areas don't either. That being said, they don't engage with Japanese as well. Urban areas are cold.

China is the Israel of Asia … it goes by its own rules and ignores international law.

Nobody is actually this stupid, surely.

It's such an easy thing to fix: move big corporations to the countryside. In a country as interconnected through the Shinkansen and internet as Japan, there's no reason why companies should all be centralized. Clear out the big centres like Shinagawa and move the jobs, and the people will follow.

What's with the explosion of racism around the world recently? I thought we'd gotten rid of it in the 90s.

Filipina as well. I've met a few whose company told them straight up that they'd be deported if they got pregnant. It's disgusting how they treat Southeast Asian women here.

It's only a matter of time before all bus and taxi drivers are middle Eastern. It's one of the certainties of life.

How, though? Even without money for heating, they still had coats and blankets. It's not like they live in Siberia, it's Tokyo.

It's over? Russia is finally giving up its claims to Ainu territory and stopping it's illegal occupation of the Northern Territories? Great! When can we expect them to get the phuck out?

Yes! You can! Japan !

By stopping the release of poisonious radio active water into the Pacific!!!

"Drinking" water in China is orders of magnitude more toxic and radioactive than Fukushima discharge.

Posted in: Ramen manners debate: Should you put your used napkins into your bowl after you eat? See in context

I don't get it. Would they rather people leave used tissues on the counter? In the bowl or on the plate is the most sanitary place to put them, and it makes it so staff don't have to touch them with their hands to throw them away. Japan really needs to implement lessons in schools for critical thinking.
