One word best describes the UN, feckless. Former President Trump called the UN out in public but no one would listen.
He also called out NATO allies for not paying their fair share in the percentage of GDP.
We now have a war going on in Russia's invasion of the Ukraine and whether we like it or not the US and NATO are being drawn in.
When your enemy perceives you to be weak, it's when they attack.
Russia's mistake was to underestimate the resolve of the Ukrainians to fight for their country and overestimate the competence of their professional military and the conscripts.

The original decision was to purchase the drones.
A subsequent decision was made to cancel the purchase.
However, the decision to cancel the purchase has now been reversed.
Japan will purchase the drones.

Verstappen drove like a mad man. His driving bordered on reckless. His style of driving was not entertaining.
It was amazing how Hamilton kept his cool driving on hard compound tires and drove around Verstappen when Verstappen's medium compound tires wore out.
Hamilton's consistency and patience won the day.

Great rhetoric! However, without China and India, it will have little effect on climate change. China is continuing to build new coal power plants this year and into the near future years. The country is currently going through a period of energy shortage. Flooded coal mines and dispute with Australia.

A strategic failure in which he participated in.
Why is he still wearing a uniform? He should have resigned.
Biden and his administration officials planned for all contingencies when it came to the military withdrawal. Was a strategic failure one of the planned contingencies?
Blame Trump, the Afghan government, and the Afghan defense force, but don't you dare blame Biden and his administration officials who planned for all contingencies.
They should all be awarded Oscars for playing their parts in this fiasco.

Posted in: Amazon warehouse workers reject union bid in Alabama See in context
In the beginning, unions provide a great benefit to the workers. Collective bargaining has more leverage than individuals.
However, over time, union leaders provide a great benefit to themselves and not to the workers. This phenomena is not exclusive to unions. It happens to all organizations, for profit, non-profit, local, state, and federal governments.
Unless union workers pay close attention to their unions, workers will end up paying dues and not getting their money's worth.

The Olympics is not a venue for social or racial justice. It's a venue for amateur sports. If the Olympics is going woke, people will stay away. The Commissioner just announced that next year's NBA will not allow players to express their social and political views on the court. Why? They lost money big time.

Posted in: Pelosi says U.S. postmaster general has no plans to restore mail cuts See in context
During Obama's 8 years in office, the USPS removed 12,000 plus mailboxes. Not one complaint was made by the Democrats.
Now that the Democrats have decided that mail-in voting is the flavor of the day, they're having a cat fit. They want you to believe that mail-in voting is absentee voting and if you're against it, you are guilty of voter suppression.
Mail-in voting and absentee voting are not the same. Mail-in voting is the mass mailing of ballots to all registered voters i.e. living, dead, those who have moved, etc. Absentee voting is voting by mail after submitting an application for a ballot to the elections office and receiving a ballot by mail.
Over the past decade, first-class mail volumes have dropped in half. Less processing of 1st class mail, but keeping the same amount of employees. Any private business would have gone bankrupt years ago.

Posted in: U.S. records 34,700 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday; highest one-day total since April See in context
Hospitalizations and deaths are what counts not cases. If COVID-19 is compared to the common flu, there are always deaths from the common flu during the flu season. These deaths occur despite the fact that we have vaccines!
Do we really think that a COVID-19 vaccine will prevent deaths? It's wishful thinking.
Testing for COVID-19 is like taking a photo. It's good for the moment it's taken. However, you can get infected a second later if you come into contact with someone who is infected and infectious.
A recent study has revealed that asymptomatic people who have COVID-19 are not infectious. This remains to be seen.
Bottom line. Yes, COVID-19 is highly a highly infectious virus. However, most people who are infected will recover from the infection. Only the elderly, people with pre-existing conditions, and possibly people with type A blood will die.

These countries have recovered from the war ravages of WWII and the Korean Conflict. It's time they defended themselves.
Trump is right. If U.S. forces are to remain in these countries, they have to pay more. The alternative is to grow their own military and defend themselves.

National security for the U.S. and its allies has been the reason for our presence across the world. Is this still a valid reason? Why can't our allies provide for their own defense instead of relying on the U.S.?
