Posted in: Bill Clinton asks voters to give Dems more time See in context

Bill Clinton: "OK, I know we're REALLY REALLY screwing thing up, but please please let us keep doing it? We're sooo close to socialism!"

haha. so true! scary o.0

Its why the Bush administration tried to change the law back then, only to be blocked by Bawney...

and again, yah, don't forget Dems had majority for a long time in Bush admin rite? so they like to blame Bush bc he was in office, but in all honesty they were the ones still calling the shots. Look where it got 'em.

Even Obamas people can recognize reality. His economic team is all quitting. They realize their plans have failed, that the policy of government spending doesn't work the way they thought

True too! hahah. But hey, ONLY expect for all of this political climate to get WORSE over the next 13-14 years. Pluto is in Capricorn and wreaking havoc on our big business and politics at home. For another 13-14 years, this will just get more and more upsetting and there will be so much change in the government it'll almost be a whole new government -for better or worse??? Depends on what we make of it. The last time Pluto was in Capricorn bringing such severe political climate with it, the United States was fighting for its freedom from Britain and forming it's own state-hood. REVOLUTION!!! is what we can expect to see again! Tearing down and rebuilding of government, big business and politics.

Posted in: Rockers embark on musical pilgrimage to Mt Fuji to fight cancer See in context

lol. I love all the comments. hehe this article is great.

Cancer is caused by a low megahertz in the body.. When your body reaches around 40 megahertz your body cannot function propperly so cancerous, mutated cells begin to grow..when you reach 20 megahertz, your bodys energy is so low that you are dying. At 50-55 megahertz the body contracts illness and disease. At 70-80 megahertz you are a healthy person. There's two ways to increase your megahertz, right there.. Plant Essences and Rife Therapy I have had five people in my immediate family that have cancer or have died from it.. the only thing that has helped any of them is their diet -not the hospitals and not the cancer centers. All they can do is mask a larger problem but it will always come back if lifestlye isn't changed. Try eating something raw and organic. Nuts, seeds, fruit, veggies, sprouts. Raw, unprocessed foods are good for you and your body can heal itself if you feed it right.

If all of these musicians really want to 'fight cancer', stop supporting all the frauds at cancer 'research centers' and the government that are just looking for a fat pay check and start using something called RIFE THERAPY and healthy, RAW eating. There's been a cure for cancer for 70-80 years people, and it's been covered up because major pharmasutical companies don't want cures for everything -if people were healthy they wouldn't be making a living. Doesn't that make anyone else a little pissed off besides me?

Well said, mokgohan. I expect their US tour will be playing local clubs and an occasional House Of Blues if lucky. I saw the B`z in 2004 at a bar in Seattle, maybe 500 people at tops. I doubt X Japan will top that"

oh I like B'z!

Lets just wait for Gackt to hit American theaters in Bunraku. Nationwide I wonder how many screaming fans will line up just to see Gackt on the big screen! ahahahah. Probably more than at all these other music venues combined. Lol. fun times.

Posted in: The Hafu Project: Exploring the question of what it means to be Japanese See in context

onoes! some ppl in japan are starting to have different cultural identities other than japanese! Japanese need to learn that from America and Europe. Just because there are those in your midst that are Japanese that have diff. cultural identities as well that intermix doens't make them less of a japanese citizen. I agree I'd never call a white boy Japanese in the sense of race, but there is a difference of Japanese Race and Japanese Culture. Ireland's sortta going through the same thing right now with black-skinned Irish citizens. I could never accept a black person as a Celt, but as a citizen adopting the culture and loving it, sure! America is full of the same thing.. none of us are really 'north american'. We're all Mexican, Spanish-american, Irish american, Scottish american, iranian american, german american, itallian american, french cajun american. That is how people identify themselves in america, just as people will inevitably begin to do in japan. soon we'll find Irish-japanese citizens and the like. or African japanese etc. weird concept, emo.

Haha. It's about time Japan faced this fact of growing up ;) . Most of the rest of the 'civilized' world is hafu. o.0 y'kno? Mexicans and European-americans, Anglo saxons and Celts, anglos and israelis, angols and chinese, chinese and japanese, chinese and thai, celtic and japanese, celtic and black, .. whatever. Get used to it :) Embrace the cultures of the world. Tho that'll be hard for Japan since for all of eternity they've been living without interference from outside cultures other than China and Korea until mid 1800s. I myself, am proud to be Celt/Gaelic, Norse, a smidge of Saxon and Native American Indian. I'm a mut :( Is there a japanese term for not being hafu but a mix of many other things? >D haha. Darn those Viking Invaders!

Posted in: Some Muslims question mosque near ground zero See in context

America will always be made up of many peoples of many beliefs and ways of worshiping and ways of living out their lives in their own ideal way. This is something we will always be confronted with. America is special because we are a nation where many people find their identity by following their individual heritage and cultural rites. However, this should not be allowed to fracture us. People come to America to be united under the Constitution that will provide for them freedoms which they value and hold in high regard -freedoms that some of us have come to take for granted! But that is our unifying ideal that holds us all together. Because we live here with so many people that will always fight for the same freedoms but live each in their own way, it is a fact of American life that we will have to be willing to work together and make compromises and understand how to be kind to one another and appreciate every persons' struggles, so that we are able to continue to uphold the freedoms we each value so much. I agree, 9/11 is still an open wound and until the last person passes away that was there to bear witness to it, it will always be an open wound. A loss as severe as 9/11 does not heal. Life teaches us how to bear it and live with it and survive and go on living stronger and happy despite it; but such loss never disappears. It is always there and it is always bleeding. Some might even wear it as a badge simply because what happened is not something that should be healed, forgotten and dismissed. Anyone who has ever suffered any great loss will understand the truth in that.

Posted in: Obama says Muslims have right to build mosque near ground zero See in context

Voting to build a mosque elsewhere has nothing to do with telling them they can't worship -its just being sensible and sensitive to the situation. Even the mosque-builders should be aware of the still-healing-hearts in this instance. Just build the mosque somewhere else. Does it HAVE to be build there to be able to worship? no. If they're so adamant about building it there with so much opposition, i'd say they're pushing the point more to get people riled up and make people angry than anything.

Move to Texas; you'll get the gulf humidity and summers with 110 degree temperatures for 100 days straight. It's misserable. I can only imagine having 5thousand bodies packed around you to add to that stress. haha.

hahah. Yah they do got knobby knees. But if this is in Roppongi, isn't that an area for gaijin? If that's so, shouldn't the models have a little more meat on their bones? A few curves? a chest? Japanese men may like bony chicken girls but I can't honestly name a lot of American men that find that attractive. Well either way, fun times... they still have knobby knees.

wow a lot of ppl on here have a very different experience of japan vs how I experienced it 5 years ago. Interesting! I want to go back now and see if my exerience is any different! I guess I'm such a positive person anyway it takes a lot for me to think poorly of someone. .. well whatever.. as for " (last week even I saw a guy give a small kickup to a girls leg because she didnt let him pass, its ridiculous). " comment above all I can say is 'lol' wow I'm too much of a firey redhead to let that one slide without at least a shouting match...deffinitely some kind of confrontation. Lol! however, I know PLENTY of AMERICAN men who view women as second class citizens, too.. probably worse than Japanese men view women. To be sure, around the world, there is no shortage of that.

wait are we talking about America or Japan culture here? I didn't think that door-holding existed in Japan like it did in America?? Giving up seats and stuff, sure.. but.. I think it's selfish to not let someone hold a door or whatever for you if they offer. Understanding good intent and allowing someone else to feel appreciation for good-doing is important. Just as important as it is for ourselves to be able to do likewise kind things for others and also feel appreciated for those things. Being in customer service I'm not used to other ppl holding doors and such for me because I'm always offering courtesies to other people and it feels weird when others do it for me lol. But I still appreciate good upbringing in evidence through 'common' courteous acts. I don't think that those courtesies will or should ever go 'out of style'. If people have a problem with showing courtesy to them, that's their problem for being so ignorant.

Posted in: Rakuten's decision on English not welcomed by everyone See in context

Yahhhh... Japan might always be like that lol... no gaikokujin allowed. But I suppose that's a step in the right direction to say "at least we'll learn your language even tho we don't welcome you to work with us"...but that's ok. Japan's about due for another identity crisis moment and maybe that'll change. However, when I was in Japan I began to understand why they didn't like gaikokujin much. Their higher standards of respect and politeness exceeded the most polite of any other country I've ever been to [and I've spent time in 16 countries]. When I came back to the US and saw how every-day people act in America again... I was absolutely ashamed of my own country and wanted to go back to Japan [after eating my fill of Fudruckers and Texas BBQ]. The difference is astonishing and Americans in general really are crude in comparison.

On another note, just because they learn about English language in school doesn't mean they speak it.

Keep in mind, there are also folks that suffer from extreme social anxiety or other mental or physical disorders that might keep them from venturing outside to be able to be active like a normal-functioning person might. If the Wii can be a motivation for them to keep active, that's fantastic. There's also the chance that that experience on the Wii might be an encouraging factor to boost that person's self esteem and maybe a somewhat theraputic option for them until they're able to learn to better cope with their anxiety or whatever the situation and feel they're ready to go out into public.
