So it’s a case of “we want your money but don’t want you to enjoy being here and talking?”

I think it’s very Japanese. “We want your money. We don’t want you though.” Am I wrong?

Also, about kids lacking skills here. Are they taught them? @burningbush

If that picture is a sign of sports celebrations during a pandemic, god help the Olympics (and all of us who will feel the repercussions).

If having the Olympics depended on the country being vaccinated, we would have all been done with it a long time ago.

Let’s ask that age old question of why smallpox and polio are no longer an issue.

Overworked and underpaid.

I do also think there’s a lack of knowledge surrounding work/ life balance here. Just a bit.

The Japanese government plans to vaccinate medical workers first, then the elderly, followed by people with health conditions and those working at elderly care facilities.

so it’s gonna be about 2025 by the time the rest of us get it.

A lot of the public toilets in Tokyo actually don’t even have hand soap and only offer cold water to rinse your hands.

That’s next week and they’re still ‘expected...’? Doesn’t look like anything will be happening mid-February.

Posted in: More than 110,000 sign petition against Mori after sexist comments See in context

Good on those who signed this petition! Glad to see people standing up and taking action. It’s good to see that people do want change in Japan. However difficult it is to do or slow to happen.

The situation isn’t a laughing matter, as some commenters state. Sexism and gender equality are serious issues that Japan Mose definitely need to tackle. The man himself is the joke. As is those who gave him this job and put him in charge.

Posted in: Suga asks people to hold on a little longer as he extends state of emergency See in context

Does he mean hold on until they’ve had their precious Olympics? And after that, they’ll “urge even more” to -let alone - acknowledge the seriousness of this pandemic, rather than actually tackle it like the ruling leader of a country should actually be doing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this man has trouble even making decisions about when to go to the bathroom or not.

Posted in: Japan to extend state of emergency until March 7 See in context

I feel this is the govt way of gaining trust from the public in hosting the Olympics. The SOE will continue, the tests will keep being reduced as will the “official” number of daily infections. Then the Olympics will happen and it’ll be all happy, happy, joy, joy and then bam! The truth will come out and the govt will blame it all on the naughty foreigners who came for the Olympics and didn’t follow the rules blah blah. Just wait.

Eight people. Nice social distancing!

Its ok! You’ll be made to social distance while lining up for this thing. And then packed into the ‘AirCabin.’

Also, a thousand yen one way? No thanks!

She wasn’t very good at masking her anger. Good on him for telling her to wear one though. I feel bad for such workers having to deal with a myriad of customers each day.

I highly doubt a trans person with male ‘features’ (as is written) would even want to enter a female bathhouse in just a towel.

And do women enter a bathhouse in makeup? Seems like a cisgender perv not thinking about these things.

im sorry but the spectators are there to see the sports person perform. Why is it an issue that the sports person makes spectators uncomfortable?

@zoronto

Very large number 60 years or older. Where do these people get infected? Especially the 80+ years olds. This is why you need to increase the ridiculously low testing, so that their possibly asymptomatic contacts could be kept away

To be honest, the people I see walking around mostly without masks tend to be senior men.
