Both. Both of them have been aggressively and belligerently grabbing land around them. The only way for this to end is if at least one of them stands down, takes it all on the chin and accepts their past and recent actions as being hostile.

Both Countries have been using this situation to direct attention away from internal issues and even to promote certain policies that would never have been allowed through otherwise. The people of both nations need to wake up and smell the coffee. Over-promoted nationalism does nothing more than cause wars, wars we're all surely tired of after witnessing the horrors of both worlds wars and their aftermaths.

If one of them can swallow their pride and accept, perhaps, more than is needed about them and try and talk to the other about promoting a partnership between them I think it could make a world of difference for both their economies, but I'm no expert.

Thank god she's been found safe and sound, she must have been staying somewhere considering she would have been starving by now if she had nothing to eat?

I get the feeling she runs away a lot when scolded, perhaps staying at a friends for a day. When she was gone for longer than that I guess the parents realised something was different this time so called the police, that's just what I think anyway.

Leaving things in bike baskets to pop into a shop is definitely something you wouldn't do in the UK. If there was one thing that Japan does better than UK, low crime rate would be top of my list.

Not much you can do to assist some when you have no idea where they are. They definitely put effort into finding her. At least, I don't think those 250 officer just sat on a park bench for a few hours to return and say they couldn't find her.

Once they did manage to find her or, as you say, she returned. They did what they could to assist her such as, checking if she was ok, or asking if she was hungry, and returning her home.

On the not remembering thing, sometimes people lock away memories of trauma and sadness as a way of coping with these kinds of incidents rather than dealing them. Hopefully if something did happen she can get the psychological help that she needs. Unfortunately, Japan doesn't have the best record for dealing with psychological issues.

Giant squid are not edible as their flesh has a high ammonia content.

Aww, darn squid. :/

What about the person who earned that money and was having some fun with it, what if she and the others they've nabbed off of needed it for living expenses? It frustrates me that some people think they can just take what they want without ever working for it. I'm glad the police pinched these two good-for-nothing layabouts.

Was the message sent before and after he killed her. If it was before what was he "so sorry" about that he had to kill her? How selfish can a person be to not only kill themselves but to take someone else out with them? It does seem that murder-suicide cases have been on the rise lately.

I'm sure the local restaurant and I would have thought different on the edibility of this squid! ;)

I'm glad she's back safe and sound with her family. I hope nothing untoward happened to her but considering she was missing for a good few days may mean something did. It could also just be that her dog got off its leash and she got lost trying to find it.

Aichi prefectural police have arrested a 35-year-old unemployed woman for leaving her 6-year-old daughter naked out on a balcony.

One wonders how she can afford to "raise" these children whilst unemployed anyway, unless she's living with someone? It seems to me that 8 out of every 10 news articles on crime are about an unemployed person. What exactly is it keeping her from getting a job? If she cannot do that with children, she could ask her mother to take care of them for her, surely?

Police in Chiba City said Monday they have arrested a 30-year-old unemployed man for harassing his former girlfriend

Surprise, surprise. Why couldn't he get off his backside and get a job if he needed money that much?

I hope they find her safe and sound very soon. I guess it proves how safe Japan usually is though that parents will allow an 11 year old to freely walk their dog on their own. Here in the UK I wouldn't dare let my younger sister out on her own at such an age, if she wants to play with friends she can do it just outside where my mum and I can see her or if it's walking the dog I'd join her and it'll be same when I have my own children.

No doubt either one or both of them are unemployed. Japan has a decreasing workforce, so how can there be so many unemployed? It also seems most of those committing crimes are unemployed. Do they just have too much time on their hands?

I don't understand how someone can just kill another human being over a simple argument, even less so their own sibling.

Reacting to that comment made the Japanese ambassador as childish as the Chinese ambassador who made it. Bringing a fictional story into a political debate making it a possible escalation into war between these two Countries proves how both childish and moronic their politicians are.

samymutairDEC. 11, 2013 - 02:25PM JST And there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O you [people] of understanding, that you may become righteous. (Quran, 2:179)

I have no idea why you had to bring religion into it as this wasn't an article about religion...

This World is so depraved. How can someone attack, and kill, another person for a simple reason such as they hit that persons car with their bikes? That's if they even did that.

Wish we had these kind of sentences over here in the UK.

Tbh, if it wasn't for Spotify only being a tenner a month and I'd just download the music for free. Musicians make enough money as it is, I can't afford to keep buying every album that comes but £10 a month is easy enough.

At this rate he will get kicked out of more placed than the Rolling Stones ever were. Just another one to add to the list like Hotel Sachert, Intercontinental and more. He is losing fans with his behaviour.

Speaks volumes of the degradation of musical culture that this talentless twit has fans to begin with. Hopefully this idiot fades into obscurity like the other talentless nobodies before him.

Rather than complaining about the hard life he's had, instead he could try focusing on the positive. Sure, life was hard but he should be proud that he could still make something of himself. For me, coming from a poor background, it has made me a better person than I believe I would have been if I had come from a wealthy background.

It has taught me the value of money, something I would not have grasped if it was near-limitless, as would have been in the case of the wealthy family. It has taught me to be humble, I have worked hard and made something of myself but I understand the hardships endured by those who haven't made it because I used to endure them too.

It also taught me that if I want anything in life I'll have to work for it, no one is going to hand it to me on a silver platter. if you see it how I do coming from a poor background is nothing to complain about but rather something to be proud of. Not to mention I think me and the rest of my family are closer thanks to the hardships we all endured together despite my mothers best efforts.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is even if he had come from a poorer background he could be as rich as elder brother of the wealthy family and owning a business too. Just coming from a poorer background he had to work a hell of a lot harder than the other guy.

The World is really going down the pan these days. So many selfish people taking innocent lives to satisfy their own delusional superiority. This psycho no doubt believed the women belonged to him or thought that if he couldn't have her then no one else can.

R.I.P young lady; I hope the child and the women's current boyfriend haven't been too badly affected by the incident.

To those saying the boyfriend should have done something; its not everyday that someone comes running up to your girlfriend, stabs her then runs away and when it does happen your first tought is staying by your girlfriends side hoping there's something you can do to help.

The selfishness of some people in this World really frustrates me, you know?

@Disillusioned

There are host clubs and hostess clubs. Host clubs are where women pay for male company and hostess clubs where men can pay for female company. Unless the editor is mistaken this girl ran up costs at a host club that she couldn't afford to repay and so this guy offered to pay her debt off if she sold herself.

Posted in: Prime Minister Shinzo Abe wants patriotism and moral education included in school curricula in Japan. Do you think this is a good idea? See in context

In my opinion true patriotism cannot be taught, it is gained by one being proud of the Country they are in not just because it is the place of their birth but because there are plenty of things about the Country to be proud of. Your job Abe is to make Japan a place to truly be proud of, not force pride into the Country's people.

However, moral education is definitely a good idea, we need something like that over here in the UK. Wish I could be proud of where I live...
