Posted in: Apple a decade behind Japan on mobile payment curve See in context

I have an EDY NFC card. I just went to a convenience store to buy a can of coffee, a pack of cigarettes and a roll of garbage bags and pay my waterbill.. I couldnt pay all items jointly and the garbage bags and the waterbill were cash only.. I dont ride a train every day to work. For me, NFC is pretty useless regardless of who is supporting it.

At home my old desk top is XP. Going to keep it around and when it finally dies, i'm going Mac. Not because so and so about software but because I wanna try something else than microsoft. I'm forced on Vista on my laptop and that has probably destroyed any interest in trying any more MS products for the mean time :)<>

I don't know. Its obvious that he has some technical gizmo that enables him to do what he is doing. Yes its really great for him and so on, however he has, without any question, the absolutely most superior package on the grid.

Iphone on Docomo? Never gonna happen me thinks.. Softbanks improved a lot over the last 2/3 years and I have LTE more places than I have Xi service. By the way, the softbank ipads are not sim-locked.. I've used mine with e-mobile and with local sims abroad.

Posted in: Do you think airlines are sneaky about fuel surcharges, fees for extra baggage and other charges for various services? See in context

@bassfunk What are you talking about? The airlines I use are completely open about about the luggage allowance (1x23 on eco, or 3 x32kg on first). I recently went to India. The difference in pricing was ~ 1,3 million yen (eco to first). It can hardly be called "free" extra luggage if you are paying a million ¥ more for your ticket in the first place can it??!!

You get what you pay for, nothing more, nothing less.

The coffee is pretty good in macca. Don't care too much for the junk "food", free burger or not...

@zichi. I'm with you on this one mate! In absense of those, the ones served with mayo in Belgium are very good too. The best ones I've found in Japan was some spicy one's in one of the convinience store (name escapes right now, but think it was family mart). I never have furaido potato anywhere else.. Not worth eating..

Also very interesting; i have seen several coin-laundrys in Japan using the danish word for coin-laundry "Møntvask".

Got nailed in Frankfurt few years back also.. When you arrive in Frankfurt, that becomes your point-of-entry into the EU = pass through customs. When I go to EU and pass through the main-hubs , there are typically no customs @ your final destination because you've already passed through on entry into the EU. Last time I passed Frankfurt on my way to DK, immigration was in Frankfurt as well.

@buggerlugs. I think it meant that he was cheating on the written test, not the eye exam..And they are "eyeing" changing the way the test is done..

They are available in english (and i think also spanish, korean etc) now (the written test - 100 questions, passing grade 90!). In Japan there are no written exams on renewal.

I found it somewhat easy back when i took it (on gold driving license now).

@Zilchi. Thanks for the link mate...Learned (the hard way) to think twice before clinking links... Anyways; its pretty obvious that this bat-sh!t crazy dude and the even crazier "diners" should be under close phyciatric supervision (and quite possible force-medicated) in a closed medical facility and preferably one without handles on the inside of the doors...

@jazz350. Registrering your iphone/ipad with Softbank to use their free wifi is SUPER easy! I read nothing Kanji and I had 4 devices ( 2 iphone4, 2 ipad2) online in a matter of minutes.. I recommend using 157 and asking for english support. They"ll have you rocking in minuttes...
