This is one major reason why China is trying to draw attention of its people outside it's festering sore of a country, which will happen first ?? Civil unrest with martial law or China starting conflict with other countries ? I will "vote" for the 2nd.

Does anyone see a repeat of Germany happening here ? Maybe not on the same scale but it's looking pretty promising

11 million yen ?? At his point in life it hardly covers his and (possible) children's loss if he becomes a loss... Eg; private high school 1.5 a year.

Never mind the support through university ...and what's common if you have daughters ..,the extra spousal endorsement before during beginnings of marriage ...

He should be compensated 10X higher.

What China doesn't realize is ...there see many more countries arising that could fill it's shoes with little investment. If I was a major shipper or a major investor I'd pull out and go to india, Mexico or South America . Screw china ! USA has the right mindset ...if China wants to cause Sh&¥ them relocate or realocate ...of they think they have problems with civil unrest now wait until all the companies pull out because of fear of their investments not being protected or their shipments being held up for ransom

I always thought that was the stupidest thing in Japan , police driving with their with their lights on for no apparent reason. This is why the couple were confused because lights are meaningless here.

According to the local city council, the proposal includes a prohibition on drinking alcohol and barbecuing outside beach huts, prohibition of exposure of tattoos,

very biased and it's misleading by implying the people who are drinking and don't have body art couldn't possibly be unruly aggressive"

Japan needs to get out of the stone age . In about 10 years or so if not earlier most gyms will have to shut down or change their rules to allow tattoos @nenad Most people here with tattoos are not connected to Yakuza ! All one needs to do is walk down to the beach in the summer now to see almost every young person sporting one let alone all the foreigners here who couldn't be yakuza .

Japan is just showing one more example of how it doesn't respect a person rights to freedom of choice. Body Art ! Get with the program Japan !

Ouch !! I see this going a long way to taking the pressure of Asia ....not !

What's with these two countries antagonizing each other..is this the latest world scheme ? War always brings investment. Only problem is today we as humans can do today what it took them 5 years to accomplish in ww2 in about 45min. Only problem is it will take about 500 years minimum before it's even attainable to remodel

Just another act from China showing how big of a hypocrite they really truly are. If they wanted to set a example to follow this wasn't one to do. Seriously China must think western society is full of a bunch of uneducated idiots that can't see through their PR stunts aimed at painting a negative image of Japan. Seems to me China is just building up a multitude of reasons for first strike ...believing the rest of the world will side with them afterwards. I think not...there will be one overgrown bully crying alone in the schoolyard after with no one wanting anything to do with that bully.

Toshiko ! Japan has never dominated the USA in marketing. What they did what take tech from the USA and utilize it to a a different extent. When you have population confined to a small demographic region it's easy to do. They is no way with the diversity of manufacturing in various countries that anyone can truly state one dominates the other

I think the best thing Japan can do is keep on going the route they have chosen while stopping every so often to look at China and laugh ...while uttering "who are these people ??!" Seriously where I come from most people I know loath Chinese for their culturally disgusting behavior while at the same time admire Japanese etticate. This outburst is for one reason and one reason only to provoke Japan in a antagonistic way. China lol you are really starting to look like the arse of the world.

China the antagonist. Pestilence is at hand within this nation and is rapidly expanding to outside of it. I don't believe China will be able to contain the barrage of issues it has inside unless it brainwashes it's own people with destruction on the outside.

No country has the right to tell another when and where the can pay respects to their lost. It's totally arrogant for Korea and China to even attempt this. Over 2,000,000 souls that also deserve respect , just because there are a few amongst them that are bad apples doesn't mean they shouldn't get what's deserved. If Abe was praying for the lost and world peace there's no better place to do it than there. Also people are seriously overlooking the damage China has inflicted on others in the past. Friggen hypocrites they are. Take a look at how China back stabbed the USA during the Korean War ..... Ambushed ! Greedy nation that builds it war machine with the sole purpose and intent of forcibly taking away weaker countries territories.

Im all for them monitoring calls, the nsa has no interest in personal matters ...its all about stopping the next threat from happening. Just a lot of face saving going on here. There's been a lot less focus on relocation since China started throwing its weight around off the coast of Japan. Japan may be advanced and capable in defense but it is still a long way off at being effective in detering the likes of China. I'm sure the general population sleeps a lot easier knowing that the might of USA standing there to offer protection. Yes the USA wants Japan to take on a responsible role , so it costs tha tax payers of the USA less and frees up their forces to attend to other future impending threats (mainly China)

@ noven ...relatively weaker America ???? Pull your head out of the sand and take a good look around. There isn't one nation that's more advanced in tech than the USA . China should be concerned with Japan purchasing all of Americas tech. This is going to make whatever they have now even less effective.

@ original, ok I'll humor you, if the person recanted their confession and can't be proven with cameras or absolute forensic evidence dated from when close circuit cameras or DNA testing then ya...don't hang. But if they are caught red handed via video , public witnessing or the pert confessed on the spot they hang them. Remember there isn't a place you can travel in a populated area in japan that you aren't going to get caught on camera ( unless you are a ninja )

As long as there absolutely no doubt about who killed who and someone didn't get convicted by forced confession or misleading incorrect information then I would say if you are callous enough to takes someone's life intentionally then you don't deserve the one you have. Hang em high and right away ..save the tax payers money.

China=insolent child....a child that keeps pressing ....until something snaps...where corporal punishment needs to be "handed" out. Seriously I don't see how China can posibly think it will gain anything from all this. The world ( excluding 3rd world with their hands held out ) is definitly not going to side with China in anyway

Posted in: Japan boosts military outlays to counter Chinese navy See in context

WilliB well said ! China had and will always behave like a insolent child that needs to be reprimanded. If people think this issue is going to be resolved through dialog then they will be sorely be mistaken.

Reading the news from different countries there isn't any ( worth taking note of ) that is impressed with China's actions or isn't not worried about the increased aggression China has been displaying through the recent years ...Rumsy asked china directly when he was in ...hey what's with the increased spending ...no one is threatening you (China)

Forecast is strong and stormy with lots of innocent misled people perishing in china, there would be no way for China to back down gracefully ( out of pride and ignorance ) so they will do exactly like one of their generals said and use nuclear tactics if the USA intervenes ...I'd call this a sudden implementation of population control...with the worlds most populated country taking the biggest loss.

China get out of the past ...get a grip ...keep using monetary tools to keep being a major player.

Posted in: U.S. vows to defend Japan after China announces new air zone See in context

China is off their rocker ....they really believe they can push Japan around and regardless of USA stating they'll defend Japan they will still push forward. As for readers thinking USA won't step in that's a mistake it's not just economical reasoning behind this. They don't want china to have valuable sea and airspace between Taiwan and Japan to grow in China's benefit.

USA isn't going to hestitate for a moment at jumping in at first sign of legitimate aggression.
