i would have to see original footage of a video shot from a helicopter above the ships before i would be willing to say that the chinese are 100% at fault here.

, i am simply pointing out that all we have seen is edited footage of a video that shows several collisions.

i agree with another poster that this guy is not very much of a hero. the general reaction of the japanese public that this video establishes 100% chinese guilt is WRONG.

in 1995 MMA was very much a fledgling sport without anywhere near the safeguards and safety precautions that it now has. unfortunately it usually takes an incident like this one to light a fire under officials to enact better safeguards; which is exactly what happened.

as sum14 said, my understanding was that the crew members were never actually detained ergo they haven't now been freed. they were most likely sitting on their own ship waiting to see if Japan would free the captain in a short amount of time and since that hasn't happened they have now decided to head home.

“What happened after I punched him the first time, I don’t remember.” Somehow, the pair of them ended up at a police station two stops down the track.
ha, more like he slapped him in the face and then covered up like a little girl. i have seen a few "fights" in the years that i have been here, but not once have i seen a decent punch thrown.
“I knew I was doing wrong,” he says, “but I never thought I’d be arrested.” But arrested he was, though charges were dropped when Ishida undertook to pay 600,000 yen to have the car restored.
this is one of the problems with this country; no damn accountability. no wonder why we end up with criminal politicians like Ozawa. the charges were dropped!?!? that is total BS. just b/c he agreed to pay restitution does not mean the charges should have been dropped. what about all the other cars that he admits to vandalizing??? the police/prosecutor in this situation is a glaring idiot.

what an unbeleivably great movie!! i am so glad he is re-releasing it. i am on pins and needles to see even the minor changes that he made. this movie will be remembered in history as the single greatest movie making achievement of all time. arrgghh i can't continue on like this; this movie SUCKED. i wanted a refund but they wouldn't give me one. i blame this movie for the death of modern cinema. now every horses ass director is coming out with 3D movies. there are actually a few movies that i would like to see but they are being released in 3D and not 2D so it means if i want to see the movies i have to wear those stupid glasses.

all you Doom and Gloom people claiming that the US needs to pull out the Japanese playbook or that it's all over for the US have 1 thing in common; you are all unbeleivably niave and totally incorrect. first of all the US economy is already coming out of the recession; US corporations are almost all showing profits and most banks have re-paid their bailout money to the govt. in a recession the last things to improve are unemployment and the housing market; usually takes between 3-6 years for those to fully recover. second, pulling out the japanese playbook, ha ha ha ha what a joke; what playbook??? for the last 15 years japan has absolutely NO economic playbook at all. the country has been in a 15 year deflationary cycle that the govt refused to identify as such. this is a stupid Doomsday article written to elicit knee-jerk responses from the uneducated masses, nothing more, nothing less.

Posted in: Historians rethink key Soviet role in Japan's defeat in WWII See in context
mummet umm, you're making my point for me, thank you. i never said anything about Tojo being the sole reason for Hirohito's actions; far from it actually. Hirohito's actions were decidedly his own. what I said was that Tojo was railroaded into taking all the blame for war crimes perpetrated by Hirohito and other members of the royal family. and yes I was aware that one of Hirohito's relatives was "in charge" at the time of Nanking; hence the war crimes of which i spoke (although I'll have to double check b/c i thought it was his uncle not brother).
the original point of this post was that some historian is claiming that the Soviet attack on Japan was a large factor in leading to Japan's surrender. that idea is preposterous. after the first atomic bomb was dropped Japan was communicating with the Soviets and trying to get them to help Japan aquire better surrender terms; and the Soviets were playing Japan along like a fish, the whole time knowing that in a few short days they were going to attack Japan and get their land grab.
the Soviet invasion came AFTER the first atomic bomb had already been dropped, the Japanese were already defeated. the Soviet attack met minimal resistance and was merely the final nail in the coffin.
oh, and i've read and studied plenty about this so umm ... "thanks, dude."
