For goodness sake IOC, grow a pair and delay the games for a year.

A final decision on postponement will have to come from the IOC but Japan's stance also matters.

Of course the games need to be postponed. How is this even a question?

Paul, an eye surgeon, said he has not had symptoms and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events.

People in my state cannot get tested even when they do have symptoms. But Rand Paul, who believes government is evil, relied on his high level government position to get tested even when he was asymptomatic. Hypocrisy and selfishness are some of the defining traits of Republicans.

20% of the nation is under a stay-at-home directive, including in the three largest cities in the nation. This is mind-boggling! I feel like I'm living in a science fiction movie, except that unfortunately this is much too real.

If hoarders would stop buying more than they need so that we could cut our grocery store visits down to once or twice a week, we'd be doing much better.

The richest nation in the world doesn't have enough protective equipment for hospital workers. We're not talking about suits for spaceforce astronauts. It's the most basic of needs to fight this war.

Just two days ago Trump brushed off any responsiblity for states and hospitals needing supplies. "Not a shipping clerk" is what he said. Pathetic.

I listened to some of Gov. Cuomo's press conference this afternoon. I don't live in New York, but it was a consoling pleasure to listen to a leader who knows what he is doing and tells the truth. And who doesn't try to abuse a reporter doing his job.

Here it is, months after this coronavirus started to get established, and according to today's statistics the US had still not managed to test as many people as Canada has. And yet testing had found over 25,000 positive people in the US as opposed to 1200 in Canada. That is a sober finding, indicating a fair chance that there are many, many infected Americans out there that have not yet been tested.

Remember when Kudlow didn’t want any government funds used after the 2008 meltdown?

This won't pass until Trump and his crime family figure out the best way to skim a few billion off for themselves.

The Japanese little kids are so cute. They are lovely and I hope they will be OK and not infected by this horrible Coronavirus disease. They are the future of Japan. I visited Japan many times. A beautiful country.

Especially the little pre-schoolers you see walking together in their identically colored little hats.

Quick translation: If you are a trucker that is directly helping transport needed supplies for coronavirus, forget about the sleep limitations, mileage limitations, log book limitations and everything else that annoys the hell out of truckers and JUST GET IT THERE.

I found the emergency declaration being given to all essential truckers now. it is well worth a read.

Truckers are getting emergency coronavirus instructions they were apparently told were confidential. And I found a direct link to an unsecured copy.

The medals will mean nothing. Who wants to hold up one while the world mourns, and possibly spread infection upon arrival or when they return?

Besides, if the Olympics are held, they won't be fair. Athletes for some countries are in no position to train right now. There is a chance of injuries for some sports - you don't want to end up in the hospital with something avoidable- and some will be grieving for loved ones. It will not be a fair comparison of who is the best. It will just show who got lucky. The medals will be worthless.

This purposefully not calling the virus by it's given and accepted name - Coronavirus and Covid-19, yet another Trump propaganda spin to manipulate a base underlines what I read in Time Magazine this morning: In the Battle Against Coronavirus, Humanity Lacks Leadership by Yuval Noah Harari.

He asked Americans to avoid traveling and urged them to"buy less" when they go to stores after nationwide reports of anxious shoppers emptying grocery store shelves.

I am so very grateful for all of the workers that continue to show up and do their jobs so that we can feed our families and sooth our worried minds. I’m sure that the need for paycheck is a huge driver but I’m not sure that I would do the same if I were in their shoes. We have to give them credit for showing up under these very stressful times. Many still have smiles on their faces and I think that we should show them our appreciation. In this pandemic, we need our grocery stores just as much as we need our traditional “essential personnel”. Let’s lift up these folks and let them know how much we appreciate their work.

This is terrific. At a time when we need to have greater access to information, China shuts down American media access because Trump, in his bullying blaming way, had to reference the coronavirus as the Chinese virus. Can someone please shut-up Trump? Every time he opens his mouth, he makes things worse.

I will be sorely disappointed if the Democrats cave to the crap Trump has presented to the Senate for consideration. His plan will just put more money into the pockets of the wealthy.

The difference between a high mortality rate country and a low mortality rate country is the volume and accuracy of the testing so that as many infected can be isolated as possible and medical services can be scaled up with knowledge.

Boris Johnson's government is trying to get away with a Social Darwin, libertarian "herd immunity" policy to let the virus rip. This equates to population culling and mass murder of the health and social services dependent elderly and poor.

Just wait until the deaths really start mounting in Britain.

WHO has just publicly condemned the British government.

NO.

A payroll tax won't help people not collecting a paycheck, but it sure as hell will hurt the SS fund.

Flooding the economy with money won't do a fecking thing when there's nothing to spend it on.

The airlines don't need a bailout. They made money hand over fist while screwing us.

Posted in: Coronavirus fears shut bars, borders; WHO urges world to ‘test, test, test’ See in context

One of the biggest problems is the "you can't get tested unless you're showing symptoms" mentality. How will we ever know where the hot spots are for this virus? How will we know if we can infect someone else?

I'm starting to worry that a very large percentage of the population has already been exposed to this virus.

Get it? No tests, no cases counted.

How about we claw back the ridiculous corporate tax cut the so called conservative republicans gave to their donors. That money goes to Medicaid expansion to the red state governors to cover their costs. Then raise the s s and medicare tax cap number, take a sawzall to the defense department budget. That's a start anyway.
