I notice that, despite all the apologies for these "regrettable" incidents, none of the companies that defrauded their customers are offering refunds.

Did you mean to say you haven't noticed? Or were you trying to imply something incorrect, mislabeling perhaps?

To give one example and where this scandal started back last month, Hankyu Hanshin Hotels are looking at 110 million yen in refunds.

You can call Sea Shepherds what ever you want but they are the only organization today trying to prevent extinctions of animals in our Seas

It is people like you who continually ignore facts and stick with your emotional pleas and slogans. The Japanese are not taking threatened species and there are literally hundreds of thousands of those they do take. Note that the annual target is around just 1,000. But that is just too much isn't it? Ohh whales are just so majestic and clever and better.

He also argued in court Wednesday that although the injunction ordered the protesters to keep 500 yards from the whalers, "it didn't say anything about whether the Japanese whaling vessels could come within 500 yards of us."

Ha. Still playing that card I see. Travel thousands of kilometres to chase and harass them, and then it's "oh no it was them who approached us."

SS are a bunch of prejudiced emotional misfits who try to apply or ignore laws depending on their convenience. And they will make one fat lie after another to do it. Oh it wasn't us, it was Sea Shepherd Australia. Sure we spent $2.5 million on fuel and crew, but it's got nothing to do with us. Sure eco-terrorist Watson was even on one of the protest vessels, but he was just an observer.

SS = Sinking Ship.

Will he be adding "We're not pirates" to the big skull and crossbone flags then? Maybe in a hard-to-read disclaimer at the bottom.

From the the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals: "When you ram ships; hurl glass containers of acid; drag metal-reinforced ropes in the water to damage propellers and rudders; launch smoke bombs and flares with hooks; and point high-powered lasers at other ships, you are, without a doubt, a pirate, no matter how high-minded you believe your purpose to be."

I wonder what if any impact game 6 will have on money or even next team.

Oh is that so. Maybe you should take a look or listen at the man himself's remarks and those of any number of actual fans.

In the US they do not make you pitch a day after pitching 160 times.

I'm not sure what you're trying to imply or if you understand why he was brought to the mound in the 9th.

Congrats to Mami on the series MVP award.

Oops, that should be Mima.

Norimoto also pitched well, and it was the first time in about 60 years that a first-year pitcher started in game 1 of the Japan Series.

Ma-kun got smacked for 11 hits in game 6, but they wouldn't have come this far without his otherwise perfect record this year.

Tohoku.

Sendai rejoices in Japan Series title

Sendai, MinamiSanriku, and countless other locations throughout Tohoku and Japan. Good to see foootage of various gatherings partying big time.

Congrats to Mami on the series MVP award.

As for the "Giants", the only thing giant about a number of them this series was their fat paycheck. Captain Abe and touted future captain Sakamoto were absolutely useless.

The "Giants" playing list was paid nearly twice the Rakuten list this year and paid a billion yen more than Chunichi who came in at second in the salaries. Rakuten was ranked 11th of 12 teams. Now that's return on investment!

All hail the Tohoku Eagles.

there were a few questionable calls last night. Especially when that second run was scored.

Yeah that looked out, on replay. Hopefully they'll bring in video for that kind of stuff.

Tanaka, who went 24-0 in the regular season and hasn't lost a game since Aug. 19, 2012

Ma-kun Tanaka is awesome. Made the fatcat Giants line-up useless for most of the game last night, and made a clutch straight ball escape in the 6th when the bases did get loaded.

When he goes to the U.S. they're gonna build a roof over the stadium in Sendai with his transfer money.

We, not only here in Japan but the world, need more data on this catastrophe!

TEPCO regularly update their website with information, you just have to read it. If you don't like it then let your fingers do the walking.

Here is their page on countermeasures for water leakage. http://www.tepco.co.jp/en/nu/fukushima-np/water/index-e.html

Read my lips - "Its under control" and " the leak is confined to an area of 0.3 km sq".

Hmm, just read will suffice.

Cesium-134 readings were 370 becquerels per liter while cesium-137 was 830/liter within a silt fence right outside the reactor building.

After years of living in Japan, I've noticed that the island nation has quite a few merry misconceptions...

Tis the season for misunderstanding and giddy generalisation. Try replacing "island nation" with "certain entrepreneurs."

These two results mean Rakuten has finished first in the Pacific League this year, the first time in their nine-year history.

Congrats Rakuten. Baseball fans in Tohoku are in fever mode. Now off with the heads of the Giants.

The reason for being able to make it to Nagoya in 40 minutes, in addition to it rocketing along at 500 km/hr, is that the route is in a straighter line than the existing shinkansen route, and this means digging through mountains. As for earthquakes, the magnitude observed is a fraction of that of that felt on the surface.

I'll bet the athletes aren't offered ramshackle temporary housing

Why would they not be offered comfortable, convenient accomodation to ensure they can compete at their best? Can you imagine the discontent and embarassment if they weren't?

housing for the 3-week visitors from overseas

Which will then be left to rot in the middle of Tokyo......no, it is going to be sold to the market.

while you are still living in makeshift accommodation and forgotten about

Is that so. Here's a report for you of completed city-run housing. http://www.pref.iwate.jp/~hp0608/saigaikoei/250310noda1-zyoukyou.pdf http://www.pref.iwate.jp/~hp0608/saigaikoei/ofunato-tanakahigashi-kouzi.pdf http://www.pref.iwate.jp/~hp0608/saigaikoei/kamaishi-kaminakazima(city)-kouzi.pdf

Wont work. Japanese are conditioned to follow instructions, not make decisions for themselves...Society will collapse.

I find this kind of rubbish ridiculous. Japanese will get used to them wherever they are introduced. The roads will collapse however if too many fat foreigners like me drive over them though. As someone else pointed out there are large scale roundabouts in a number of places, but you won't see them in cramped to the extreme Tokyo.
