glad to see that argentina's dirty tactics couldn't win this time, wasting time the whole game only to start pushing it after the goal, but at the same time a little sad for messi, you can't blame him for having, with a few exceptions, a team of just average players who are not up to the challenge and a crap coach

hope germany wins but if argentina does, it wouldn't be a surprise of course

haven't checked which channel has the game but anything would be better than today's 3rd place game, that guy wouldn't just shut up for a second, and every time that he mentioned kuyt he had to call him 'veteran' sigh

What a boring game, it was as if they were still playing the group stage and both were already qualified. Belgium needed just a little luck to avoid going to the extra time. The US really lacked a player like Donovan, even if he wasn't 100% fit, most stars in other teams aren't either anyway, bad decision from Klinsman but of course easy to say that now.

I thought this was a permanent campaign going on since the earthquake, at least the stations and trains that I use have setsuden signs and you can notice that they don't turn on all the lights.

This campaign while voluntary should be followed by a compulsory one ordering people to use deodorant.

The Croatia players seemed to claim he was not speaking English, so is it possible he was just talking to the assistant referee at the time?

That's what I assumed and wrote in a previous comment. This time it was clear that the argentinian was speaking to the players. I guess they can rely mostly on gestures, anyway considering that referees are not supposed to have lengthy "conversations" with players or explain their decisions, I don't think it is that important. On the other hand referees usually attend seminars and courses given by fifa so you'd expect them to have at least a minimum knowledge.

Get ready for some weird matches depending on the results needed, like a team playing with mostly subs or becoming allergic to the ball all of the sudden. Now is not just about qualifying but also about the convenience of finishing 1st or 2nd in the group.

After all the criticism the japanese referee got about his english ability it was funny to see the argentinian in the US Portugal match speaking to them in spanish during the coin toss. I thought well of course the cry baby understands it but Dempsey? He looked a bit lost, and yes I know some US players are fluent in spansih, but still funny to watch.

Why or why won't NHK or the other channels give us the English feed on subchannel!

I'm not sure but I think that they don't use the international feed and instead have their own cameras, but yes would be nice to be able to choose, the best for me would be just ambient noise with no commentary ha.

oh please, nobody is praising muller and in fact any serious football fan hates divers and that kind of stuff but the reaction, that's what got him sent off, that and unfortunately that refs are more likely to punish him and players like him because of his long history, the same with players that are always faking faults, they are going to get away with some stuff but sometimes refs just ignore them even if they were actually fouled

Exactly they always have the excuse that the others are taller, faster, stronger or even the weather or that they are playing away, so when they win it's because they could overcome aaaaaaaall that.

Bad defense but also they rely to much on Honda, he scored alright but he also made so many mistakes, the ball had to go through his feet all the time and he couldn't deliver the last pass so many times. That celebration reminded me of 1994 Maradona ha. Zakku didn't dare to change him and took Kagawa instead, Yamaguchi also showed that he can't handle that position.

People should realize that some of their players are sooo overrated.

Posted in: Japanese fans shamed by ref's World Cup performance See in context

The english thing cannot be true, they are required to know and it's not his first international tournament, maybe there is a problem with his accent if he has a very strong katakana accent it can be difficult to grasp and also consider that his assistants were both japanese and he probably speaks with them in japanese when they are discussing stuff and players can listen, nowadays they are in constant communication, players might get confused and think that he was addressing them.

That said what a horrible game, not just the referee but both sides played poorly.

Lets not forget about Mitsubishi's big blunder in South America with the Pajero.

But there they called it "Montero". the same with most of the names they use here, either those models don't make it to the international market or they get other names.

In football, players can change their nationality only if they haven't competed in an international competition with the senior team, winning medals for different countries seems a bit odd but if the laws allow it...

You can always blame officials for not believing in or not giving the proper support to their athletes but hindsight is always 20/20.

I never drink the stuff (after having tried it a couple of times and checked the labels) and would not trust the above maker's claims unless widely supported by independent clinical research.

Herushia is part of those products that have the "tokuho" seal, and as far as I know they have to go through some tests to be able to be certified as such. Just the latest fad of "healthy" products. As someone said above, just drink black coffee. All the extra processing that goes into healthier products doesn't sound very healthy to me.

Posted in: Button lashes out at 'idiot' Kobayashi after Korean Grand Prix See in context

Being child-ish about it and insulting people isn't the way to go.

Most of them do it all the time cause they are a bunch of arrogant self-important a$$holes specially the finger kid, hope he doesn't win again this year. Can't blame them for reacting like that right after accidents but I wonder if they ever apologize after watching the replays and understanding what really happened.

Even though Kobayashi apologized to both Rosberg and Button I don't think it was entirely his fault, accidents in the midfield are very common and Grosjean has shown that not even the cars on top are safe.

Hope Kobayashi finds some sponsors and a decent seat for next year.
