It will never happen!
The tax rate alone is enough to put them off!

Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said in his first policy speech to parliament in October the government would pursue a range of initiatives to make Japan a major global financial centre in Asia and in the world.

Actually full lockdowns that were implemented in the U.K etc didn't work well because the contact tracing was ineffective and people didn't properly quarantine themselves at home.

With extortionate corporate tax and an extraordinarily large amount of red tape and bureaucracy in Japan what would attract foreign businesses to move here?!

@Peter Neil. The government has had 9 yrs to come up with a solution!!
and flush it is its only answer!
Hence we are complaining!

The LDP and TEPCO had 9 years to find a solution to this problem but failed miserably.
The great wise and technologically advanced Japan's answer to this radioactive problem is 'dump it into the sea' ( filter it a bit first to make it look like we know what we are doing).
The tsunami was a natural disaster but the clean up and de commissioning work has been a case of total negligence and incompetence!
When it comes to nuclear waste...
TEPCO'll throw it in the sea with great haste!
9 years of no action...
Now they have a plan...never mind people's reaction!
So they'll dump it in !
Do you fancy a swim?
Think they care about the sea?
They only care about what's in it for 'me'.
So when you eat your delicious sushi
Don't lose hope!
The stuff is full of isotopes!

You are incorrect.

To think that storing it in huge tanks would be the long term solution to the problem is the question we should be asking.
I am sure that if the same amount of money and effort that was spent on hosting the Olympics in Tokyo was given to this more urgent issue we wouldn't be in this predicament now.
It's a sad state of affairs to be in really!

People keep criticizing Biden but not the failure that is D Trump.
How does 200,000 deaths( due to Covid19) the selling off of publics lands, weakening environmental protection laws and a total disregard for working families make him the right choice for the future of America?

He also pledged to continue the work of former leader Shinzo Abe, whose signature "Abenomics" program involved vast government spending and monetary easing, and attempts to cut red tape.
Do Japanese reporters ever question their 'dear' leaders?!!

They were sex slaves NOT comfort women.
They were procured for sex and the Japanese may have compensated the Korean government but they have NOT properly recognized their disgraceful past and come to terms with it.
Denying it won't make it go away.
