Posted in: China says it is ready to hit back over U.S. tariffs See in context

This kind of response is a bit laughable since Beijing has been playing Washington ( unfair trade) & other countries for decades. Beijing has more to lose as leverage leans more to the US.

Move makes sense. Doesn’t hurt for Japan’s own identity to become more resilient & carry their responsibility concerning the disputed islands.

Posted in: China lists U.S. pork, apples, other goods for possible retaliation in tariff dispute See in context

Let the chips fall where they may. Need to correct the unbalance so that there is a win win situation. Again, the onus is on Beijing to keep things stable & safe. They fear instability from a possible trade war because they know that’s how they can legitimize their policies within their boundaries.

Posted in: Xi says China ready to fight 'bloody battle' to regain its rightful place in world See in context

For decades the world has heard from Beijing about a peaceful rise. Basically the era of looking outward to the world by Beijing has passed. We’re now seeing the beginning of a new China. Will have of course influence but won’t win admiration in eliminating dissonant voices & free speech. A rocky road.

Actually good to see this decision reverses Obama’s negative legacy dealing w the Israeli/Palestinian issue. Jerusalem as the capital was affirmed officially by the US years ago & now Prez Trump is simply making it a reality.

Always good to see the Emperor welcoming other leaders. For his age, is still looking well. Visit will encourage Prez Trump to continue the ironclad tie between Washington & Tokyo.

A visit is a visit. A cool reception is not the biggest factor. If Islamabad wants to be perceived as a player against terrorism, these scheduled visits need to happen.

And down down down goes the NFL business. Perhaps not a bad thing after all. More to life than the game. This entire situation has been built on a bad business model. Now it's coming to light.

Perhaps even constitutionally bogus in the first place (even D Feinstein admitted that DACA is in shaky legal ground). Give it to Congress to enact a law rather than an EO. But again when was the last time Congress enacted anything significant in 6 months? Not likely to happen.

Let the good PR by Japan begin though that is not the forte of corporate Japan. Whether Japan has played by all the rules can be debated but certainly the perception that it has not by Trump & others will force Japan to perhaps change their strategy, A new sheriff in town means that from now on what was assumed is now being questioned not by some hack politician but but by a business oriented leader. Will be fun 2 watch.
