Good stuff, hopefully the kurds are able to establish a country for themselves they are pretty backwards and do things like female circumcision but at least they are rising up to the challenge of IS

Posted in: Pressure mounts on Russia as Ukraine rebels launch offensive See in context

I can imagine why a smaller country would sacrifice so much for territory but Russia is already the worlds largest country doesn't seem like it would be worth wrecking their economy and ruining their standing in the international community. Hopefully Ukrainians can kick out these fake rebels/the Russian military

Posted in: Obama sets progressive agenda in State of the Union speech See in context

The next few years of Obama vetoing everything Congress does will be fun to watch. Obama will be a one man "party of No". Oh he could be like Clinton and tact to the center - but that's not Obama's style.

Staggering ignorance, anyone who has paid even the slightest bit of attention to this would know Obama has bent over backwards over and over to give republicans practically everything they want. If you don't agree please tell me what democrats would have gained from the grand bargin he pushed for (fortunately unsuccessfully). The Obama we've seen recently is totally a breath of fresh air because he's doing and pushing for some things democrats want for a change and not just acting like a moderate republican. People criticizing Obama for not being centrist enough just make themselves look like fools to anyone who is has paid attention throughout his presidency

Posted in: Japan turns to 'I am Kenji' Facebook page on hostage crisis See in context

I don't really like the "I am Kenji" slogan, Goto seems to have been a pretty heroic guy going to syria to try and help his friend, I certainly haven't done anything like that

It is interesting to think of what a punching bag for Japan and the west China was less than 100 years ago

I've promised myself that if I ever get into execution situations I've going to at least yell bad things about my attackers and bite their ankles instead of kneeling passively

I've never lived in Thailand and I don't know that much about the politics but everything I've read has made Thaksin Shinawatra sounds like a pretty great leader, I'd be happy to hear his sister or him return to power

Haven't had a chance to watch the speech yet but I'll do so later today, glad to hear he is pushing for progressive stuff, progressive tax reform would be great of course and the cuba stuff is pretty exciting

Posted in: Talent gap: The distance grows between jobs and applicants See in context

This is probably a good thing, if there is more emphasis on retaining employees maybe there won't be as many workers pressured to stay until 23:00 every night and come in on the weekends. It's not like the opposite "more people than jobs" sounds very tempting although I know businesses must hate this because it's gota be tough to find really good candidates

The futuristic toliets are awesome and should be adopted in the US, the squat toliets are pretty confusing if you've never used one. I wonder why the articles claims they are healthier? Leg exercise from the squats?

This is nice but it would be better if it was entire publication that was disappearing

As a breast-fed baby boy, I can't see the dilemma

Unless you are still a baby boy you should be able to see the dilemma

I doubt she'll win, she hasn't learned any lessons from 2008, she's still running to the right of everybody. If we wanted a republican we'd vote for a republican.

Give him a break it happens, I fell asleep in my car on a kind of long drive home from college once and wrecked my car I certainly wasn't drunk or anything and had never fallen asleep in my car before. Totally took me by suprise I imagine the same goes for this guy who is probably going to be very very cautious for the remainder of his time as a bus driver. It says people only got minor injuries I bet the driver is by far taking this the worst

Posted in: Republicans ignore veto threats, attack Obama agenda See in context

This term will be pretty good for Obama if he stays firm on using his veto (especially needs to veto keystone) and figures out a way to close Guantanamo. He's already been doing good with improving relations with Cuba and some other recent progressive moves, the big danger here is that he works with republicans because a republican congress and centrist president who is awful at getting concessions from republicans is a terrible mix
