A total tragedy and from here on the wife and other kids will suffer the most.

Seems strange to finally lose it at 79. I wonder if he had a history of violence, or did this extreme outburst of insanity wait 79 years to rear its head.

Posted in: Bootleg anime cakes? Charges filed against Tokyo woman for selling unlicensed Demon Slayer sweets See in context

What a sad story! Woman makes a buck; doing something she loves; making people happy. Big business shuts her down and sticks to selling approved cheap plastic rubbish from China.

Couldn't they have approached about licensing the cakes first?

In a hundred years time do you think they will be trying to preserve soaplands and hostess bars? I hope not, it's not something that needs celebrating from this era and the artistic value of the decor isn't something to be proud of.

Take a few pictures for posterity and don't waste money on it. If private owners wish to do so, go ahead.

One defence of having guns in the US is if they didn't have guns they didn't have guns they would just resort to knives. Hard to imagine Baldwin mistaking a plastic knife for a real one and jokingly start start stabbing someone.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. There is nothing wrong with a bun on a burger, why would anyone in their right mind fashion something out of rice to replace it?

Is nothing sacred?

To be controversial: I can't help thinking Japan is making the right decision. I've been hypercritical of everything they've done so far and yet they seem to be coming out of it pretty well - time to shut my mouth.

In the mean time: time to make the most out of tourist-free sight-seeing spots.

Posted in: Vaccines, masks? Japan puzzling over sudden virus success See in context

"What is the reason behind the decline?" Seems the wrong question to be asking, it already implies there is only one reason. It's cumulative and all the tiny variables finally reached that tipping point that brought the virus crashing down. Nobody knows which was the straw that broke the camel's back, just keep adding straw and make sure he doesn't get back up. (poor camel).

Posted in: Japan probes two deaths after jabs from tainted Moderna batch See in context

The problem is, it is easier to prove the vaccine definitively caused their deaths than it is to definitively prove it didn't.

If it is officially announced the vaccine caused their deaths there will be a lot of people (on here and elsewhere) saying "told you so" and there's not much to come back with - congratulations.

On the other hand, it's unlikely the government/news will report definitively that the vaccine was not the cause and even if they do, the people here will say they can't trust the gov/news anyway and by which time the damage will already have been done (sewing doubt in the minds of the undecided).

For these people there is just no way to falsify the view the vaccines are dangerous and speculation like this, although newsworthy, unfortunately, is on their side. It's a lose-lose situation.
