Posted in: What is your stance on gun control? See in context

while banning firearms to reduce and ultimately prevent gun violence is a good idea, but for USA, it's not probable. the 2nd Amendment, Right to bear arms, have been here since the birth of America. it's provides citizens with the opportunity to protect themselves whenever danger suddenly appear. Law enforcement authorities cannot be everywhere to protect everyone at all times. America is not Japan that had little gun violence, or weapons violence since civilians are banned to own weapons since the 16th century when Toyotomi Hideyoshi confiscated all weapons from all classes except the samurai class. Even if America banned sales of firearms like assault weapons or handguns, they can just buy them on the black market trade. Criminals still get their firearms on the black market and on the street. If the gun control ban is enacted, it still wouldn't be effective, as this won't affect the criminal with guns. it just means they may now have the upper hand when law-abiding citizens cannot protect themselves.

Posted in: Philippines hopes to lure Japanese investment from China See in context

This is not a bad idea. Japan really shouldn't have put most of it's egg in it's China basket. should really diversify more. Southeast Asia, India and other world region are in need of financial investment. If Japan can lessen it's it's dependency on China, then China won't have much of a hold on Japan's economy.

Posted in: China's aircraft carrier a show of force as Japan tension festers See in context

China is showing it's new power capabilities, but it'll be years before it can really be effective. It's still only a training ship due to China's lack of experience with carriers and know-hows.

Doesn't Japan have it's helicopter carriers? and are upgrading to larger ships? The JASDF is also quite fully-trained professional. the Helicopter Carriers are able to carry VTOL/STOVL fighters if necessary.

In all, Japan and JSDF are capable and a quarter-of-a-turn in every aspect to build itself a formidable Armed Forces that can equal any in the world, but stop short of doing so.

If Japan want to exchange blows with China, they should announce any sort of upgrades to their JSDF. Currently, the JSDF announced :

1) Announced decisions regarding buying amphibious assault ships. 2) part of the JGSDF unit stationed in Kyushu are in Guam with the US Marines, learning how to take/retake an island. 3) new radar in Hokkaido.

Posted in: Japan, S Korea play hot potato with Noda's protest letter See in context

I don't quite understand why Japan didn't accept the letter. Is it because they wanted a formal response from South Korea?

South Korea is unbelievable and is sort of a joke at the moment. All these years, Koreans campaign around the world, mainly in USA, but also in Europe(?), buying ads in newspaper, magazine, billboards, all saying "Dokdo is Ours", but what they really do is just saying people to shut up and listen, they don't even want a debate. They shout slogans, uphold their banners, protest, buy ads, cut their own fingers and even abuse and brutalize innocent animals and savagely tear them to pieces, but when the Japan govt wants to go to court, the ROK tuck their tails between their legs and ran home.

While I don't exactly saying ROK claims isn't true, but in order to know who is in the right and wrong, what Japan offering is a nice idea, which ROK should've accepted. The fact is both have documents saying they own the rights. U.S. even does, too, saying Japan. what is wrong right now is that back in 1952, ROK ignore Japan and the U.N. and illegally establish the Syngman Rhee Line and again, illegally occupying the Liancourt Rocks. That action wasn't accepted, but Japan, U.S. and the U.N. didn't took any action except for declaring ROK action illegal and against international law.

If ROK is so confident of their claims, they should've gone to court and settle it once and for all. otherwise, this will keep going and the actions that South Koreans take will only hurt their image on international standing.

Posted in: Gymnastics gold medalist Uchimura spooked by 'stalker' See in context

I heard stories of how crazy Japanese fangirls can be... this isn't that bad really, but if he let's this goes on, then things can get alot worse. they'll try to do even more and most possibly, other fans will try to top one another.

an example, google story of Johnny's Entertainment fangirls. btw, fanboys can also be just as crazy or creepy. but it's not just Japanese fans, however.

for Uchimura, his newfound fame and Olympic achievements will be hard to get used to, as he gain even more fame than before, the stalking, even more. and it's hard to distinguish between a over-zealous fan and one who is obsessed, borderline psychotic.

Posted in: S Korea urges 2 Japanese ministers to scrap Yasukuni visit See in context

it's Idiotic, really, to tell people, especially politicians, to not honor and show respect to their war dead. China, S. Korea and other nations with the same notion needs to understand that Yasukuni housed over 2 million war dead, all those who died while in the service of Japan military, dating back all the way to the Boshin War, not just the war criminals.

btw, S Korea tells Japanese Ministers not to visit a controversial site, thinking it would hurt political ties, while their "Top Dog" the president visited the disputed isles, knowing it would stir up Japan.

idiots....

Posted in: Japan shocks Spain 1-0 in men's Olympic soccer opener See in context

Spain had 65% possession, Japan 35%. Yet Japan had 12 shots (5 on goal) while limiting Spain to 6 (3 shots on goal). granted, 10 vs 11. but Japan defended amazingly and Nagai especially was quick and gave Spain nightmares in the back. Their counterattacks was very effective, but wasting so many good chances. Japan victory wasn't due to just luck or a fluke, Japan played extremely well against a top team with many young prospects.

They're planning to make a Live Action adaptation of Golgo 13? It's one of the coolest, mature manga/anime series, filled with lots of action. the story is also very international. However, I'm worried as USA doesn't exactly have a good track record when adapting Japanese anime/manga into Live-Action. I would prefer them not to ruin it for me.

Interesting, but considering most poeple wanted a PS3 would already bought one. However, It's an amazing piece of machinery. and I wouldn't mind buying another one. better than buying a blu-ray player, or one with 3-D capability, since the PS3 can play PS3 games, online gaming, online content, web surfing, play dvds, play blu-ray and 3-D capable.
