When I saw how all those Brazilians acted at the beach in Mie last Obon, that was warning enough for me!

fair trade and Levis. Has anyone noticed that US retailers are no longer allowed to ship Levis to Japan? This all started last summer I believe. I used to order from JCPenneys or other retailers. While these retailers ship to Uganda and Kazakstan, they are no longer allowed to ship to Japan (although it is the third largest economy on earth). Now our choices are either inferior japanese jeans or pay 14000 yen for a pair of Levis. Talk about unfair. Why is this and who do I lobby?

Posted in: U.S. farmers, food interests unite against GMO labeling See in context

Genetic modifications allow for bigger, faster, more robust harvests whether livestock, grains or produce. ie more profits for farmers and food industry. By not labeling they avoid any threats to consumer demand. They want their cake and eat it too. Label the product!

One interesting fact not mentioned in the article. I read that of the 12 "japan league" teams all voted FOR the new agreement with the exception of the eagles. Also, the eagles are the only team with a player wanting to post. Seems to me the other teams in the japan league didnt want the eagles to reap a huge posting fee.

Don't have to be a "Japanese National" to agree with Probie. His / Her point is very well taken. Yamamoto's intent WAS NOT to inform the emperor. The symbolic figurehead deserves protocol. Lots of angry peasants here.

Posted in: 'Lighten up,' French magazine tells Japan after Fukushima cartoon complaint See in context

If "These kinds of satirical pictures hurt the victims of the disaster,” then WHY bring it to their attention? I'm pretty sure that 99.9% of Fukushima victims don't read the French satirical Le Canard Enchaine. For the French that do, a harmless chuckle.

Posted in: Korean campaigns for removal of Japanese flag from French stores See in context

There is a place in Kyoto misnamed Mimizuka (mound of ears) where is buried the salt pickled noses of 38,700 Koreans and Chinese from the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1598. They were shipped back to Japan by the barrels and eventually buried there. We never hear mention of this. Lets hope there is a good chance we wont have to hear about the former either in another 500 years.

I got a little feeling that this experience will light a cold hardened fire up under his young mature posterior. Just could be that this coming up short could change some attitudes on the whole team even. Go Yu, Go Rangers.

Hate to be a downer but in my opinion the whole white day thing was created because of the coddled males of Japanese society. God forbid a man should lose face by embarrassing himself and revealing his intentions to an uninterested, unappreciative female. God how embarrassing! With the advent of white day, males just lay low and reciprocate after being propositioned.

@prinzjay I'm your exception. I've overstayed my visa TWICE in the past ten years. The first time I got a stern talking to. The second time I had to jump through some hoops. Call me a dope but I was never incarcerated, arrested, threatened or even slightly disrespected. But then again, I was never arrest for assault. I think THAT is what is confusing you and getting you handcuffed and locked up with foreign nationals.
