Why do you need an app to get a cup? Just bring your own cup and ask the staff to fill it up with the beverage of your choice!

Japan is inspired by the ingenious Trump attitude who’s also just thinking about reopening the economy rather than protecting the population. Shame to both of these government!

"Japanese Health Minister Katsunobu Kato told a news conference that the ship is now empty and ready for sterilization and safety checks to prepare for its next voyage. He did not give a timeline."

Don't care about sterilizing the ship just sink it! I think this cruise ship made enough damage to the passengers and the crew but also to the cruise travel industry. Nobody will want to go on that ship for a cruise around the world!

Posted in: 69 foreign technical interns died in Japan between 2015 and 2017: Justice Ministry See in context

I saw that news on Japanese TV and they interview some of the foreign interns. Most of them were complaining of working long hours and getting a very low wage for their work. Some of them are paid as low as 300 yen an hour. Some of them work on a double night and day shift. No wonder why some of these interns are committing suicide. The working conditions are awful and they are away from their home country without any support from their family or friends. Their social life is basically limited to the company that hired them. They are treated like cheap labors. The government really need to imposed some strict guideline to the company that are willing to welcome foreign interns. It's not because they are coming from foreign countries that they have to be treated like slaves!

Posted in: Woman arrested for leaving father with Alzheimer’s at expressway parking area See in context

It is a very sad story as she cannot work because she has to take care of her father every day. I guess their only financial support is from the father’s pension and they cannot afford to pay for any kind of proper care for him. It must be even harder if she doesn’t have any support from her family. This lady was then extremely desperate. But on the other hand, she should have seek for help rather then dumping him like puppy in a service area.

Unfortunately, with the aging population in Japan there are many more people like her who are suffering in silence. It is very demanding to take of elderly every day and especially when the access to ressources is limited. I think the government will to have to provide financial help and services for people in this situation.

This is absolutely outrageous! These kids and their production company are just a bunch of ignorant! They should be banned for those stupid mistakes. They did two mistakes in a row and both related to WWII! What a coincidence! I also think they should offer official apologies in front of the public during a televised press conference.

Posted in: AI robots may lend hand in Japan's English classes See in context

Instead of investing in robots they should invest in human resources. Many native speakers are hired as ALT here in Japan. They are usually team teaching with a Japanese teacher who most of the time doesn't any concrete knowledge of English. Not many of foreign English teachers have a proper Japanese teaching license because the procedures to get that essential document are very daunting and complicated unless your are fluent in Japanese. I think the government should create special teaching license or certificate for foreign teachers. The course to obtain that license should be lead in English as well as the test and interview. Therefore
