Posted in: Abe says decision to resign before accomplishing his goals 'gut-wrenching' See in context

PM Abe was generally respected by many of my colleagues.

Most people are probably worrying, anxious or nervous about the problems his replacement might make.

For people and leaders to attend a ceremony marking an anniversary to the end of a war seventy five years ago is remarkable and I am thankful and grateful for it.

I love a fresh dip in the sea but it seems Obon is a better time to consider departed family therefore I refrain... I'm good with it because I live near the ocean and can walk from my place to a beach anytime.

I notice I'm a minority nowadays.

I remember a time when I would accompany friends to their relatives graves and we placed flowers, burned incense and said prayers. I thought it was very interesting when they would leave bottles of Japanese wine.

The sea is a good place to let salt wash germs and dead skin off your body.

Don't forget your sunscreen and hydrate.

Posted in: Hiroshima survivors worry that the world will forget See in context

I think the world should forget. It will probably prefer not remembering. It wasn't the worlds fault anyway. The world didn't drop bombs on itself. It gets enough damage from solar flares/bursts, asteroids and space debris probably. It might not be too fond of typhoons either.

To the world it would have to remember the reason why the bombs were dropped here anyway and it probably benefits more by concentrating and or focusing on other things.

I was born in America and am quite proud not to have had involvement in the droppings.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were important before the detonations and I am more interested in that than in the execution of a militaristic decision. Likewise I would like to think the world and the people living in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, including survivors, mean more to me as well.

Simple, safe and easy testing would end these problems.

Love you too.

Posted in: Hospitals turning away sick people as coronavirus cases surge See in context

If you are a foreigner and in Osaka or Tokyo or a place where hospitals are turning away patients, you should now consider your personal safety deeply without panic. It is likely during times of hysteria, natural disasters, emergency, etc for individuals, groups and societies to unravel. You could appear like a target to a temporarily irrational individual or group more so during times mentioned above.

Is your dwelling place secure against a group or individual? For how long? How long could you survive at your dwelling place if you had to lock yourself in for your safety?

If you are in good health could it be more secure to be off grid for you?

Keep enough cash on hand to survive without banks or electronics should there be an earthquake during the Covid-19 case increase.

Now would be a good time to set up a (Facebook?) group specifically for foreigners in Japan to get through the pandemic and establish a support network to assist each other just in case.

Stimulus Package ~

The government empowers the people and gives them fifty percent of a fine imposed on social distancing rule breakers.. 10,000 yen per head. Turn in a party of three and receive ¥15,000 = your 50% cut.

Golden ticket winners are snitchers who reveal closet covid-19 postive stow-aways.

This kind of approach could be quite effective

Stay well and safe.
