Nice to see private companies taking the leap forward. A future where we mine resources from our nearest solar entities be it moon or Mars for good.

Posted in: Nara railway workers save turtles from grisly death See in context

Between 2002 and 2014 their were 13 disruptions in total and after finishing installing the bypass last month they already saved 10 turtles. It is better to stop over stating the figures or there is something seriously wrong with these statistics.

How about charging the same price for melons, mangoes and other fruits that the Japanese companies charge for there products overseas like the cars, cameras and other electronic rip offs. There will be no trade deficit anywhere.

Poorly planned effort ends like this. Instead of trying to establish new world records humans should spend there efforts on doing things that are useful to other human beings. Records won't do any one any good.

Posted in: South Koreans triumph in U.S. robot challenge See in context

The trials held in 2013 were won by a Japanese company robot which was a spin off from university of tokyo. That company was eventually purchased by Google and taken off grid and did not participate in the finals held yesterday. So technically it was the Japanese company which won on same tasks. Google not only purchased this Japanese spin off but also Boston dynamics

Posted in: Sendai official sacked over fake bereavement days off See in context

In Japan taking a day off is considered a crime. They don't care or even condole on the death of near relatives of coworkers. This is a nation where material world is every thing.

Posted in: South Africa slams newspaper column praising apartheid See in context

On one side Japan wants to reap the benefits of foreign workers taking care of there people and working in there factories on low end jobs on the other hand if apartheid is the answer that right wing Japan can offer then its economy is headed for doomsday. Opinion makers ar often used by government think tanks to test troubled waters before making future plans.

Racism in Japan is quite common and can be easily experienced if you live and work here for some time and you happen not to be an American or European

Posted in: Wearable sensors let bosses know if they run a happy office See in context

Another example of a Japanese company developing a device which will never sell. It's good for the museum. Nice try though. That's what happens when you have too many of the same kind in a company like hitachi. Try having a few foreigners among you for a reality check before developing garbage.

Posted in: China to curb phone, computer purchases in restive Xinjiang See in context

The main problem in Xinjiang is that the Han Chinese are not used to or do not understand the difference in Muslims way of life. Forcing different ethnic or religious groups to blend together by force will only harm China in the long run. A struggle for acceptance becomes armed and militant when suppressed by the powerful which is the case here. A quick solution is to make them feel respected and sought for in society by providing jobs and education at par with other religious and ethnic groups.

Posted in: Abe cuts short Middle East trip to deal with hostage crisis See in context

It is very sad that some how two Japanese have been caught up in this hostage situation with ISIS. However the timing of this event makes it very controversial as Abe was on a tour to Middle East i.e. Mostly the neighbourhood of troubled region. Like the 2004 event of a Japanese caught up in Iraq it could be an attempt to draw Japan into the war there. Japanese government should act wisely based on credible intelligence information gathered on its own. It is also very strange that these ISIS guys keep there faces covered all the time.
