And until now this guy has been walking around Saitama with a gun. Scary stuff.

sexting is dangerous if you use predictive text.

example response to an erroneous predictive 'sext':

Why do you want to kick my aunt?

I ride at least 50km a day here, in Tokyo and Saitama, and I can say with absolute assurance, that the drivers, cyclists and pedestrians in this country do not have a f-ing clue what they are doing.

Daily, I am cut up, denied right of way, pulled out on, etc etc. About once every few weeks, I will be involved in an incident, which requires stopping, checking limbs and exchanging insurance details, and I ride 100% within the confines of the law, and totally passively.

They just don't have a clue.

I share your pain nemoflow. I dont have an 'insurance detail level' accident every week, but I arrive at work pretty mad every day. selfishness and stupidity is abound on the roads of Tokyo.

Still though, we dont know what happened in this particular case.

This is a good cause. But, why have students from the US come to Japan to make their point to world leaders who are in Copenhagen?

Im pretty sure this protest has a pretty big carbon footprint itself as Im assuming these guys didnt swim over from the states......

Im not suggesting any guilt is dismissed, but I also believe its too early to start blaming the driver. We can all guess what happened but no-one knows yet.

Today I saw a lorry driver speed through a crowded crossing in central tokyo as people were beginning to step out. That driver deserves greater punishemnt in my eyes. He didnt hit anyone, but he could have done and you could see that he accelerated into the red light on purpose - total disregard for other people's safety. We dont yet know if the driver of the car in this article had the same disregard, but from the article, we cannot safely assume that he did.

We dont know yet if this guy was in the wrong. In fact one of the few facts we have here is that the crossing light was RED FOR PEDESTRIANS. If I had to guess, Id say the guy stepped out into moving traffic, the driver swerved to avoid him and hit more people. But, thats all it would be - a guess.

I want to hate a 24 year old company president with an expensive sportscar just as much as the rest of you guys. Schaundenfraude - look it up.

If he did go through a red light then yes please do lock him up for a long time, but it seems from the article that he didnt.

you guys all get so upset when one guy punches a 6 year old girl but how about when a US bomb kills a six year old child and her extended family, i'm pretty sure none of that gets report in the so called news. Get with reality and start realising how f'ed up this world is then put this in perspective

good point.

Something must be wrong with Japanese society because this doesn't happen anywhere else.

Yes it does.

You people are all just jealous of these pretty girls with unusual taste in fashion.

Um, 1) none of these girls are pretty and 2) None of them have an unusual taste in fashion. The 'gyaru' look is mainstream and has been for a long time.

It really hurts my feelings when you all pigeon-hole people based on looks. I'm a good looking guy, and I can talk a girl's ear off!

and modest with it! you must be quite a catch!

dbung10: You're right. It does seem pretty superficial but we really don't know anything about these women or what other interests they might have. I admit that some of those Shibuya girls do look very weird but I admire anyone who has some kind of passion and creativity!

Yeah me too. But I dont think these girls have either passion or creativity. Hopefully Im wrong and they are all really nice girls that dont just care about what they look like and grabbing an 'ikemen' guy before they get old.

Yeah of course 20 something year old girls pay a lot of attention to how they look, but these girls come across as if the way they look is the ONLY thing they care about. And if the way they look is the ONLY thing they care about, then they should be doing better that wearing black bin liners in various styles, applying way too much make up and wearing a life size wig from a Victorian era child's doll.

man, either a bunch of jealous women posted or a bunch of doods lying about how they REALLY feel, those girls look scrumptious!!

They dont. They look like plain girls that have spent a lot on make-up and clothes and now look OK. The reason none of these girls go for the straight black hair, minimilist make up and mainstream fashion sense is that no-one would look twice if they did. By wearing their lookatmelookatmelookatmelookatme Paris Hilton-esque make-up and clothes, they will get some attention.

I hate all religions equally, there is no place whatsoever for religion in politics and requests like this, from any religion, should be thrown out by any democratically elected body. Organised religion has a hell of a lot to answer for over the last few hundred years.

running red lights isnt an age problem. a taxi did it this morning at akasaka with two policemen standing at the crossing. Neither of them batted an eyelid.

Agree with eyeblack too, there should be an age limit at which you have to re-take your test every year.

To answer some previous questions (that were perhaps rhetorical) along the lines of 'who would pay for 150 yen for this?', well, I can tell you exactly who does: The guys that stand next to me on the subway in the morning and breath on me, and my coffee breath'd boss. Thats who.

Posted in: Do it at home: Train manners in Japan See in context

Ive never understood why people get offended by a girl putting her make-up on whilst riding the train. Its not gross, and it doesnt affect me at all. All the other stuff (violating personal space, unhygenic behaviour, selfish behaviour, guys looking at porn etc) I understand completely.

All riders please ride defensively, and assume everyone else on the road is an idiot.

I second that. Having been on tokyo roads for over 7 years, you must assume that someone is gonna do something stupid or selfish or both. happens every day. running red lights is most prevalent, followed by pulling out whilst ONLY LOOKING ONE WAY usually not in the direction that traffic is coming from.

Posted in: 15-year-old girl killed after moped collides with truck See in context

someone ran a red light here. The consequences were terrible. I really think there needs to be tougher punishment for running red lights. It just seems way to acceptable right now. Ive seen police stood at crossings whilst cars speed through red lights and they dont seem to care. Stick a few TV cameras at lights and have a spot 200,000 yen fine for anyone running a red. That should reduce these kind of horrible accidents.
