complete and utter nonsense spouted by a complete and utter moron. he clings to his idealized notion of cheerleaders, whilst modern society renounces the very idea of them.

relax people. humans are still new to all this. another few thousand years and we will start progressing. don't force it, it cannot be hurried.

speed i know it is totally weird, but fatally stabbing someone is a crime here in japan, so he was arrested.

This up skirt habit seems to be quite a popular pastime here in Japan. Cant these guys find something better to do?

what could be better?

these guys have nothing but this.

there's nothing "better".

agree with ricky. i admit, at about the 10 years mark, i was getting tired of these questions every day, but fortunately i realised it was just something i had to live with and learn to enjoy. this woman needs to find a way to deal with it....and that card sure as hell ain't it.

used to live near there, very pretty place. the kagura in takaharu town in pretty big too. also quite nearby is ebino kougen (where the james bond movie was shot) which is lovely volcanic area. it can be a hairy drive up there for less than confident drivers though, with narrow winding roads and local cars and tour buses zooming around.

there is simply no way they can catch this murderer. he was wearing a surgical mask, rendering him completely anonymous in japan for perpetuity.

yes! japan is awesome! destroy a person's character for a minor disdemeanour. but ony if they don't have political influence. if they do, then everything is fine.

Posted in: High school student 'forced' to quit school sues Kumamoto Prefecture for a single yen See in context

i can't help but admire this poor, deluded fellow, but he may as well sue the culture of japan for its dysfunctional, archaic attempts at controlling its citizens. not only will he get no support from the law, but the vast majority of citizens are indoctrinated and will fail to understand the importance of this......assuming the media give it any airtime at all.

there should be NO bloody barrier. I teach in Australia and kids come here every day from all over the world, with next to no English, join their local school and in a few years, they are fluent. and i don't mean playground fluent, i mean reaching the level of writing formal essays. give kids a chance!

where were these demonstrations? i didn't see or even hear of any. do you really think the japanese care if our cards says "alien" or if we have a juminhyo? no, they don't. they don't even know of these things. but keep on dreaming.

william, i love your confidence but no, the japanese will NEVER rise, or even question authority. not too long ago, they gladly committed suicide for the emperor. now, it's just a different master and a different form of subservience.

does this peanut not realise that the reason we switched the names over ages ago was to help non-japanese identify which is the given and which is the surname? his idea will only serve to confuse people for years to come.

Posted in: Tokyo court orders car owner to pay NHK fee See in context

i stupidly paid this for the first few years, then after a while i stopped and enjoyed watching my bill increase each time the guy came calling in the vain hope of collecting. it was about 200000円 last i remember.

Posted in: Tokyo taxi firm actively recruiting foreign drivers See in context

kevin i suspect that would be to ensure the driver's japanese-ness. the assumptions of course, is that japanese-ness relates to reliability, knowledge, etc. etc.

but a working visa and an arbitrary time in japan (eg. 10 years) should suffice, i reckon.

bwaa haa haaa, s/he is living in dream land. our society is based entirely on people doing the right thing. if i decided i was walking into any establishment tomorrow, i could walk in, without question.

i suspect this zealot had an inside word. knowing when to enter and which room to go to suggests so.

this simply isn't possible, is it? it is basic common knowledge. my 8 year old daughter knows what Heisei year it is.

Lived here for 25 years and still never met a Japanese person who know what Heisei year it is without checking on their phone.
