Posted in: In Japan, when a celebrity gets arrested for illegal drug use (Pierre Taki being the latest), or some other offense, companies stop selling their music, videos, pull movies they are appearing in, cut commercial and public appearances. What do you think of this practice known as 自粛 jishuku, or "self-restraint?" See in context
It is an absolute joke! The man has worked hard and is spoken of highly by all who know him. His choice to use recreational drugs harms nobody at all.

i wouldn't put my hands in my pockets in that situation and i don't think it's too much to expect a dignitary not to either. yes, it's a tiny thing, but it is bad manners, plain and simple.

apparently these 2 were gamers, one of those "start with 100 people and kill each other" type games, and she went there because she had been promised cash for helping the guy online. when she got there. he didn't pay the money and she had no cash for the return trip, so she started asking people for money.

laws absolutely infringe on free speech. as soon as a govt makes it illegal to say something, you are not free and there potential for misuse of the law. education and information should shape our society, not laws that ultimately protect only the people with power. but amazingly i know many people who seem willing to throw freedom away and acquiesce each time freedom is eroded further.

rainyday, you've made the classic mistake that most naysayers make. you mention "Segways, Myspace, Betamax, Blackberries, Pets.com". in every forward move, some individual efforts fail, but the main idea moves on. segway fails but new transport thrives. myspace fails but social media thrives. getting the idea? cryptocurrency is 100% guaranteed to thrive. it may be bitcoin, it may be a different currency, but it will be part of our future.

absolutely. it will be worth many times more in just a few years. people who call it worthless and like the people who have rejected advancement in every generation.
sun around earth/flat earth/industrialisation/equality/technology....the list goes on and some people are always against change, as they can't see it as progress. no matter, it happens anyway.

ossan, i don't understand your strange hostility. how am i trolling?
do you have a strong opinion on this issue that is clouding your interaction?
i don't have any opinion, i am simply trying to learn more. i want to read accounts from a variety of sources. thank you for the one you shared. as you say, it's not very reliable as it is written by an enemy party, but still worth reading. again, if you have any others, i'd love to read them.

thanks again ossanamerica,
i'm not arguing by the way, just trying to learn about the topic.
to me, the us army report isn't evidence in itself, it's a report of claims made, which would become a small part of the evidence as a whole. the wording is hardly neutral either, which makes it suspect.
nakasone and others deny coercion to comfort women.
part of what i'm trying to learn is if the women were there willingly or not. and then, what actually happened.
do you happen to know of any reputable accounts?
