hokkaidoguy;

The houses here are totally lame. This is basically a nation of people living in glorified trailers, which is why they float off intact like this; they are plastic junk sheds.

Anywhere out of the cities in Japan are basically hicksville. I am not surprised by this at all.

This is a blessing in disguise. A lack of Disneyland can only be a good thing for the adults of Japan.

Yeah, this is the sign of things to come. We are going to see a hell of a lot more of this kind of thing from now on.

Imagine how quickly they could eat a Big Mac!

This is great news!

Hard as nails, those two.

This made me happy :)

Posted in: Taking precautions See in context

For the love of god, calm down people. This is just how they do it in Japan. There is no danger in Tokyo at the moment, but they do this to show they have recognised what is happening and to make them look like they are in control.

These will be the only people outside of the advised 80km (30km of real danger) who will be wearing these.

If the levels DO go up, yeah, I am out of here. If not, I am staying.

Honestly, if you lot turned off your reactionary news, and looked out the window, does anything look any different to you?

No, it doesn't.

Posted in: Do you think that social networking will ever develop rules and etiquette ("netiquette") that most people will respect? See in context

Netiquette. I agree in principle, but find the current standards so painfully conservative and safe in comparison to the good old chaotic days of IRC and newsgroups that I am compelled to try to create mayhem wherever I go.

Doubt it. These guys are good at the effects side of things, but when it comes to plot... Well... erm...

Some incredibly brutal stuff has come out of Japan in the past; Flowers of Flesh and Blood was so realistic that Charlie Sheen, upon seeing it, thought he was watching a snuff film and reported it to the authorities.
