Diagonalslip, 一 can too easily be modified to 二 or 三 in legal documents or currency, so the more complex character 壱 is often used - same meaning and pronunciation but impossible to alter.

Anyone remember "Christo ", a European post modernist artist whose claim to fame was engulfing various buildings {eg. Eifel Tower } , coastal sea scapes {part of Sydney Harbour } and even the German Parliament '
with the type of material being used to block Fuji.
I can see his greatest work, one that will stand the test of time and be a monument to all that post modernism means.........COVER ALL OF MOUNT FUJI !!!
exactly what came to mind Mick.... Christo's departed this realm however.
'they' could always follow their mantra of "if in doubt lay concrete" and surround the entire mountain with concrete barriers as per Fukushima..... stymie those pesky tourists whilst supplying plenty of pork for the usual suspects! (^_-)

interestingly, at the Scramble, a couple of years ago or so, 'they' introduced the recorded message that 'the signal has turned blue (sic)'.... so now people don't even have to tear their eyes from their window-on-the-world long enough even to check the lights (and why so many people trust the lights rather than checking out the traffic activity is always gobsmacking to me)... have been thinking, whenevr I'm there, that this is an accident waiting to happen. and that's only taking into consideration normal traffic conditions/behaviour... then there are the occasional nutters who drive through crowded intersecttions on purpose! personally, I prefer to take responsibility for myself in such situations....

I don't think there are many 70 years having babies sir.
How much did you pay for your children's births, if not 10%-30%?

At least one French military AWACS surveillance aircraft will police the skies during the Olympics, using its powerful radar to watch for any potential airborne threats, the French AWACS squadron's commander previously told The Associated Press. Other military aircraft can be scrambled to intercept any non-authorized flights that enter restricted Olympic airspace.
