Where there is a will there is a way. They will find a way around this.

1) Narita: When you exit the customs area at Narita and a flight has arrived from China. The Chinese stand in the exit area or literally stop in front of you and you almost walk over them. They have no sense of space nor care. 2) U.S: Being an airline elite member and travelling business class and waiting for 30 minutes during a rush hour period in that line because a)none of the check in counter computers work and if they do work you go the whole way through the list of instructions then it tells you to go and see an agent and b) Because they've layed off most of the service counter employees there are only 2 people at the counter getting slammed by the first class, business class and elite passengers all together. c) The computer instruction telling you to pck up the phone and you get the Indian call center and have to explain everything all over to them on what has happened and they ask you to spell your name 10 times because they don't understand you're native tongue of English is then they ask your address then finally ask what they can do for you. You don't have this time so your best to go back into the line for another 30 minutes to deal with the counter staff. Europe: Everything is pretty good with the excemption of Lisbon (Perhaps the worst airport in the world for immigration especially if you arrive just after a flight from Africa. It takes 2 hours to get through as they interview each African for 5 minutes at a time with only 6 staff on duty. Heathrow: Thank goodness that I'm an elite member and can go through the quick line. Inter EU flights they recommend that you show up 1 hour before hand. I did that and the line to the security area was about 300 meters long. That was before you go through the snake line on the other side of the wall. If anyoe has been in this kind of lne at Disneyland waiting for a ride at the speed you move at, you know it takes a bit more than 30 mins. CDG (Paris): A little confusing as there are signs of where you need to go from when you are quite a distance from where you are, but then as you get closer they disappear. Lastly I admire and respect flight attendants, but my company or myself never pays money to be their psycologist and hear their complaints of how bad their company is as I pay decent money to be transported safely, waited upon, treated with a bit of respect since I treat them with respect. I'm not Jerry Springer and it's not a talk back show with trailer trash sitting in the plane.

Posted in: Obama must apologize for U.S. crimes against Iran: Ahmadinejad See in context

January 20th was a day a lot of the world was looking forward to. Hopefully June 12th will be another one and Iran will have a new more easy to deal with President because just as Bush this figure head for Iran is a bad reflection on the trully wonderful people of Iran. The people who we chose as our leaders must be educated and more to the point diplomatic. Ahmadinejad should consider extending a hand for peace and goodwill and he just may surprisingly receive it in return.

Posted in: British Airways, VisitBritain campaign offers Y35,000 return fare from Tokyo to London See in context

Just checked the BA site. Airfare 35,000. Taxes 50,960 Total = 85,960 Taxes may be a lot but it is a reasonable fare. Flying from the other countries to Japan isn't or wasn't this cheap really. Unless you take into account the the pound is very low vs the yen at the moment.

And they (The sister and her husband) couldn't work out that something was a little strange with her over all these years? Even with mental illness in this country families ignore that the person is ill and treat everything as normal. That's mainly because the society frowns upon it and even if the person is a little odd it is covered up. Saw a similar incident several years ago. Things are going to get tougher under the current economic strain and people cracking from not being able to pay rent or think that there is no help available will invariably end up the same way.

It seems as though the police here use guns more on themselves than on criminals.

Posted in: Is Chrysler a lost cause? See in context

Daimler tried to make a go of doing the right thing by Chrysler and improve their products, share chassis systems and so on, but the internal arrogance and selfishness of Chrysler(namely the unions) had them shoot themselves in the foot. The looks of their cars are nice, but the internals are terrible. A good comparison is that a few years ago I rented a Hyundai on a B'trip and when you open the boot or trunk all the wiring was covered. On a top line Chrysler all the wiring is exposed. These are small things, but makes the larger picture of the whole product look bad. People don't buy the car only on the styling. You don't only get customers on the price. Take Audi for example they are increasing their prices yet they remain until even now one of the only companies that have been immune to the downturn. Thier sales have increased. I don't think I need to explain why.

It is nobel that some of these companies are taking certain acitions versus profit to amend the situation, but what is worrying is that there are countless others that will say nothing until they get caught. Or not caught at all.

Posted in: Wal-Mart's Japan unit to close 20 stores See in context

Seiyu looks like most other Japanese supermarkets and there are many that are on the decline with the excemption of a few I guess. Rather than keep what they have under the current business structure which as the story states they will close stores which has gone on for a few years now for this company they should think a bit more creatively (if that's at all possible!!!) think out of the box and make a new shopping concept which will still be a round about copy of something that is available in another country in the world, but still different. If it is different then maybe this nail that sticks out may not be hammered down! Some of the German supermarkets that I've seen have got better concepts and standards, but Ii don't know how or what Wal-marts intentions are for the Japanese market as they seemed to have put money into a dud business and really from the media reports haven't been overly pro-active.
