"Library books are pretty grotty sometimes. You never know who’s had their hands on them before you. And there’s hardly any choice. I must’ve read Anne of Green Gables 30+ times since I’ve been in Japan."

I am assuming you do not read Japanese. The selection in English at most libraries is limited but there are some. Try going to an American or English library and finding books in Japanese.

Union has been attempting through HIA inspection and game time restriction after a head knock to fix the problem. The new "power into a tackle with head down to protect the ball placement" is a dangerous move as it puts the head at knee height. Players can do more to protect themselves with careful techniques.

League allows too many head high and shoulder upslip tackles but they too are trying to change the angles permitted.

All of these moves are an admission of the responsibility of later brain damage for some players, but most of it is knowledge after the fact. Players are bigger, stronger, faster and play more games per season than before.

More players in a playing on the day squad might alleviate some of the ongoing repitition of head knocks.

I cannot imagine the damage created by heading the soccor ball of old. Hard leather, wet, like head butting a brick.

They said to use softbank network but it’s so slow google maps doesn’t even load. When will they fix it? As of now it still says No Service.

Use Softbank and don't have a problem. Speed is fine.

Congrats to the men for a hard won battle. Kudos to the women for their energy, enthusiasm and skill. They look unbeatable at the Olympics with Blyde, Waka and PWW firing at the tryline. Great defense and blistering attack.

Obscene profits amid climate disorder due to emissions from those same profits. Their attitude is not a shock as they have always seen themselves as belonging to a different world. Like China's "Middle Kingdom" perspective.

Now let's jump up and down at Taiwan's presdient visiting the US, or water being released at Fukushima, or subs being bought by Australia.

Not really sure what this even means. Who is jumping?

Unusual in Japan. Common everywhere else and normal in some countries.

I am not really amazed at some of the levels of support shown to China by responders on these pages. I fully understand their need to prove to their Chinese business colleagues that they are actively supporting Xi's strategy, such as it isn't. It must be difficult to spout party lines in order to maintain business.

A M 6.90 quake just north of Wellington and 48K deep. No real damage, just a Jerry Lee Lewis song. On top of the flood damage it probably worries people even more. Them's that get rain, will get more, Thems that don't get rain, will get less. The Global warming curse.

Whatever you might think about the republicans and their retreat to the old white way of 1950's television land, they certainly know how to vote along party lines and back their President. When you think about it, they would be good little CCCP reps.

All D Trump has to do now, is keep his mouth shut, and like the rest of us, watch the Dem team self implode, and his next 4 years is almost guaranteed. Its a bit concerning that Berns could rally the immigrant and young college folks, but I think their numbers are not there.

Trump, keep his mouth shut? Ain't gonna happen
