He is an international school brat...probably using his Japanese passport to come in. His American passport will be sent on...that is what Japanese/other national people do. His job is English support so he isn't a professor of Toyko University.

Posted in: Passenger dies after falling out of taxi; driver arrested See in context

It looks like he was getting out of the taxi rather than vomiting out the door. The driver was probably focused on driving and thought the man was switching on the interior light to check his wallet and he must have guessed the man was drunk so any shuffling or window opening may have been ignored. Most taxi drivers (in Tokyo) don't ask customers to put their seat belts on, though they should. Anyway the driver seemed oblivious to the fact that his customer had gone and so it is unfair that he is has been arrested for leaving the scene of the accident. How sad all round.

mikihouseJul.

the driver will be declared not guilty but thats after losing his job

Why would he lose his job? Unless he caused the accident during his working hours it has nothing to do with his company/organization.

Posted in: New immigration laws hinder some married expats returning to UK See in context

The only way round it is if this woman gets a "divorce" and moves to the UK as a single mother. She would also be able to claim sick benefit, get housing, and probably go back to university to retrain for a career in the UK market. Her husband could apply for work in a Japanese company or lecture in a university in the UK. They can then reunite in the UK, get married again and go through the immigration process. Just an idea.

I think Iranian's still have a bad image here and it's a shame because I know some amazing characters from Iran. Perhaps she should just stay in Japan to promote a positive image here for the new generation of international kids whether they are from America, Iran or any other country.

According to one of my Japanese friends these fishermen are comparable to yakuza and burakumin and need to be reeducated. They don't know how to change their way of life. I like dolphins too but if they are that intelligent how come they get trapped so easily?
