Posted in: Tenacious D cancels Australian tour over Trump shooting comments See in context

A distasteful joke but a joke nonetheless. I thought conservatives were supposed to be against joke policing and for free speech?

Jokes about assassinating your own country's leader wouldn't fly in most countries right or left.

Just checked up on those chips. Ridiculously expensive. Almost 2000 yen for a pack. Certainly will not be buying those.

On Amazon, half the price on Rakuten. Looks like the type of weird product you could probably get at Don Quijote.

Some kid died of a heart attack a few months back from an individually packed spicy chip in the U.S. I guess. The morning news cast on now are eating these Japanese chips like grapes lol

Just give up on the deflection attempts. They're predictable and feeble. If you don't have a decent retort don't bother.

Go read the title of the article as well as reading the entire article. Whoever started talking about politics first is the one deflecting. Just to break it down for you, Shohei Ohtani is a Japanese athlete playing a sport in the U.S. called baseball. His interpreter is under investigation for gambling on sports illegally. You can search past articles to get caught up and what you missed.

As for Democrat coverups, the most recent already-litigated examples being?

The better question is why do you feel the need to bring a political discussion into a story about baseball and gambling when there are plenty of articles to do so?

Posted in: Ohtani's 'perfect person' image could take a hit with firing of interpreter over gambling See in context

I think Mizuhara was really the fall guy for him. Mizuhara has less to lose from this.

Less to lose? Just because they are in a different income bracket doesn't make his livelihood have less worth. Ippei's parents who run a restaurant in SoCal had to shut their doors. His wife unfollowed him on social media meaning she may be out the door. He may even go to prison for this. Nobody is going to hire him after this in Japan or in U.S. His only cash grab would be a tell all book but I doubt that happens.

going to be the tastiest 30 for 30 in history after he gets hit with an investigation and a 200 game ban

Sorry, Commissioner Manfred isn't letting go of his league's biggest cash cow.

A lot of Japanese can get away with it in Japan but not in the US

So you see a few pachinko parlors on your way home from the station and you think Japan doesn't have strict gambling laws? Most sports gambling is HIGHLY illegal here too and both baseball players and sumo wrestlers have been charged and banned for life for doing so.

There may be more to this than what meets the eyes. Who knows, maybe Ohtani knew of this addiction and bailed Ippei out. Lawyers have to protect their guy. Evidence of Ohtani doing this would be massive and could lead to repercussions.

no non-Japanese who can speak Japanese to date or is that they just don’t feel comfortable getting out of their bubble just a little bit?

This isn't a Japanese thing per say. A lot of people only date within their Nationality. Japanese tend to be more open than other Eastern Asian countries in dating outside their ethnicity.

knowing that if they do let rip they will be helping their arch nemesis Donal Trump in his campaign to reclaim the white house.

Joe has it soooo easy. Everybody is so focused on the last President that Joe could burn down the country and the media and their sheep would still be focused on the former guy. They are doing their darndest to hide the protests going on from the progressives because they know full well it could be detrimental to Joe.

Stop being 'Merica centric! These guys are unknown here in Japan, just like she is unknown in the US.

FYI, my comments about these guys would be the same as I wrote about her, regarding the desire for more "fame".

Oh and who in the hell are Jolie, Penn and Stiller? Meaningless names to me!

Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn and Ben Stiller? Never heard of them?!?

Also the Sean Penn article was here on this site the day before this article.

I have lived in the Philippines off and on over the last 5 years. I have yet to meet a Filopino who did not appreciate the drug war.

Exactly and it made the country safer than it was. I went to a friend's wedding down in Mindanao a few years back. It was under martial law then. Everyone told me that pre-martial law, there were dead drug users everywhere. Also people were often robbed and shot if they didn't give up their money to these drug addicts.

Such hypocrites, I didn't see any uproar when Letterman, Jolie, Penn or Stiller went. What makes them OK to go but not her?

This is the person who smashed a woman's face with a wine glass requiring over 30 stitches. She's damaged goods

Well Sean Penn was a woman abuser. I didn't see you mentioning that in yesterday's article through all the comments about his greatness and muscle mass.

Yes. To make excuses for this kind of violence on partisan grounds is pathetic.

Didn't see much of that preaching for partisan unity the Summer 2020 when the burning/looting of businesses, death of 25+ and destroyed livelihoods was "justified." Oh and Antifa either "didn't exist" or weren't actual people but an "ideology." Don't forget the who's who of politicians were out supporting the mayhem. Where are they now? I guess no elections in the near future so no need to act concerned.

Many of these people outside NZ would struggle to name another NZ PM.

Well Kiwis in NZ can probably name every NZ PM and they are the ones that gave her a 30% approval rating of late. You can gloat how she is the greatest politician of all time but that doesn't mean the masses have to.
