Cross city rivals in a city that takes their sports seriously. You strike up a conversation with a person from Melbourne about AFL for example, it won't be anything casual. They are passionate about their team. On the other hand, Melbourne people tend to look down on this type of behavior especially if it is done elsewhere in Australia.

Great to see the two best teams as well as the fairest teams in the final. At least they won’t be blaming the referees if they lose like some of the other teams have.

I guess you didn't watch any Argentina games.

He should be made to do two years hard time at the very least.

lol There are probably people in your country that do a lot less time than that for more violent of a crime. Will you be out there saying all this about them? A heavy fine for disrupting business and community service/anger management sounds about right. If they exist here that is.

Mitch McConnell is in an interracial marriage, and he voted against their legal protection. Republicans don’t care about women, so why would they care about their marriage?

Joe Biden didn't want interracial schools calling them "racial jungles" and called non-Democrat voting African Americans as not being black. What type of gymnastics will you use to defend him? I'm waiting.

When U.S./Japan get eliminated from the World Cup, I always pull for the underdog. Got my Morocco jersey on, ready to go. Even if they lose, it looks good on for Christmas.

Wonder where the disgruntled Germany fan is that made fun of Japan having 130 million people losing to a country with 4 million. Well Brazil has 216 million people, what now?

By this logic the president of the nra and smith & Wesson should be arrested. Follow though then.

Which would be a dream come true for you but I will let you continue to enlighten us how this was an even trade.

originally forecast led to an unexpected glut of accommodation but has also averted major over-crowding or traffic headaches in Qatar, the smallest country by both population and area to host the World Cup.

Said it all in that article you had on here a week or 2 ago. Prices for accommodation were through the roof so people were staying in UAE and Bahrain to save money then flying in on game day.

It isn't like money will ever be an issue.

You say this but you know for a fact he won't be turning down that $300 million from Al-Nassr.

Why are all our far-left friends that preach about gun control so excited to let an arm dealer responsible for thousands of deaths walk free? Oh yeah, he did nothing, the guns and missiles shot out by themselves.

Takes over the Red Sox trading Babe Ruth to the Yankees for some cash as the worst trade in U.S. history.

Traditionalists hate it but it will bring in much more money from viewership and inspire many future players in countries which never had a chance to make it.

Well, they have 0 world cup titles and 0 finals.

And I’m sure it will stay like this.

Football is tradition, and as usual in the end will be a matter between European and South American teams.

Same post, different day. I think your salt has already surpassed Dead Sea levels.

I know we should root for South Korea as an underdog and fellow Asian team. However, I have been a Japan fan for many years and SK has always been our main rival. Also their fans dislike Japan and tend to bring up political tensions during their matches. So I don't care one way or the other if they go through lol

I remembered back in 2006 we tied Croatia 0-0 and that was our only point in the standings that World Cup and Luka Modric is still freakin playing. lol

In my life here, watching the Japan team since 2002. This is the only team that plays well in the 2nd half. Usually they run out of gas after taking leads in the 1st half. It is so refreshing! Looking forward to the naysayers here saying football belongs to the Europeans/South Americans and no one else.

Exactly. Thank you for helping me make my point.

Not individual sports as far as my eyes can see.

Posted in: Your move Moriyasu: What will Japan’s enigmatic manager do against Spain? See in context

The whole senpai/kohai culture in Japan does not lent itself to strong sports teams. It's a major reason why Japanese teams cannot really compete with the big boys on the world stage. Any younger player, no matter how talented, is expected to defer to/pass to/set up their elder team mate, the latter being deserving simply due to their seniority. Sports which the Japanese do well at tend to be more individual in nature (judo, curling etc.).

Japan Baseball 2 WBCs and 1 gold medal, Japan Softball 2 gold medals, Japan Ladies Football 1 World Cup title and etc.

,this would be like you let Puerto Rican play the US

I don't know about that example. Puerto Rico and U.S. are and always have been separate teams. In fact, they may be playing each other in the WBC though I doubt PR getting past DR and Venezuela to the quarters.

But the gains in popularity of the sport at Senior Level are growing rapidly. You only have to look at what NBC paid for the right this season out for English Premier League coverage compared to their last contract to see that. I'm guessing you're not aware of where any of the team play their club football. Very naive comment.

Exactly! Of the 3 World Cups that I have attended. U.S. games were among the hardest to get. I was lucky to get U.S. vs Czech tickets back in 2006 Germany and there were 2 to 3 times more U.S. fans than Czech fans. Even with it neighboring Germany and being a much better squad at that time.

I do wish the Iran players the best of luck going forward. I have no idea what will become of them after defying their National Anthem. 3/4 of the team plays in Europe so can go straight back there but the other quarter plays in Iran. Plus have to worry about their families in Iran.

Not bad for a team with low expectations this WC. Netherlands have a tough goalie and defense so hopefully we can attack early. Good news is next game will be at midnight instead of 4am like every game.

Do find it interesting that people in here were nowhere to be found after Japan beat Germany. Now they have a reason to come in here to trash Japan though their teams are also laughable this World Cup.

BIG MISTAKE. The manager will be sacked for too much tinkering by leaving out his best players.

No manager has ever coached 2 consecutive World Cups.

I doubt they will get even a point against Spain when they can't even have a single shot at goal versus Costa Rica. They just got a couple of lucky breaks versus Germany,

Did you even watch the game yesterday? Japan had 3 shots on goal. Costa Rica had 1 which went in. Why would Japan's goals against be lucky and Costa Rica's not?

The "experts" here said Japan didn't deserve to win because Germany controlled the ball most of that game. Yesterday Japan controlled the ball but they are saying Japan "underestimated Costa Rica." What is the end game for people living in Japan but wants Japan to somehow lose?

Football was is and remain a European and South American tradition.

Because of this ONE game might as well ban all non-European and South American teams because they are not worthy of putting on a football uniform. I would actually triple dog dare you to go tell this to all your Japanese friends, family members, co-workers, etc that they have no right to be in the World Cup because football is not in their DNA. Let's see how that works out for you.

Moriyasu has set the benchmark as the Semi finals - minimum.

Actually he said final 8 which would be the first time in Japan's history.
