I'm reminded once again of the adage,

Nothing good ever happens at 3 AM.

Posted in: Weekly dives into 'deep Ueno' to track the activities of foreigner-operated businesses See in context

This article shows one of the things that make Ameyoko and surrounding areas so special. It is an area with its own life-force. It has evolved over the years, and will likely continue to in type of shops within and customers it attracts. It sounds like the local authorities are making an effort to fight what little crime there is in the area.

The increasing number of immigrant owned and operated shops is no surprise with the ever decreasing birth rate coupled with the increasing number of foreigners coming into Japan.

@Moonraker

“What is more natural than sex? It's the essence of complex life and its perpetuation”

Are you in the habit of having sex in shrine compounds to commune with Shinto deities?

It would make for a very metaphysical orgy.

Summed up in two sentences.

Drunk Karate Man forgets his lessons in discipline and responsibility.

lostrune2Today:

Folks gotta realize ya don't have to be on the mound to throw a ceremonial first pitch

Ya can throw it from the front of the mound

Which, for anyone who has never thrown from a mound, is the best way to stay safe, and get the ball to the catcher without a bounce.

I'm surprised by the minimal damage here compared to the New Year's Day quake.

Posted in: Man arrested for attempted voyeurism of neighbors having sex from balcony See in context

I think the phrase many are missing here is "next door". These apartments may have a view into nature giving the expectation to the couple that no one would have the opportunity to see them. I imagine that if the voyeurs and couples balconies are close enough that he could lean from one over the other to film, the walls between apartments must be pretty thin.

There were the supplements earlier, and now the eel. Are health and sanitary inspections rules too lax, or is there some measure of corruption leading to ineffective inspections?

Most of the time in life though, the simplest and most boring explanation is the real one. And all these conspiracies are nothing but fiction.

Posted in: NHL free agency shows teams in states with no income tax have an advantage See in context

Buffalo hasn't made the playoffs in 13 years -- an NHL record.

They've never won the Stanley Cup in their 54-year history, and except for maybe two or three times, have never even come close to winning one.

So I wonder just what kind of players Adams, the team's general manager, thinks ARE for the team.

The family that has owned that team has played a bigger role in the team's failures than any of the GMs they hired.
