Athletes, We can argue whether it was PK yes or not until kingdom come.....but we share one wish. Still you have to give credit to the boys and the coach of this team...only 3 fit veterans and the rest a bunch of young inexperienced lads playing in a far than ideal evironment. This team got much further than most teams with double the experience and talent....The Netherlands has 16 million people so there's far less talent to pick than comparing teams. After all this hard work, some whiners(mostly latin american) keep going on about some (self admitted..honesty is a rarity in soccer) schwalbes. Like I said these are just fans, a real football fan would appreciate the heights this team reached. Nonsense like "they couldn't score against Costa Rica, so they deserved to lose", is just dumb parroting of some nationalistics....Holland ruled that game, and they deserved the PK win.

Against Mexico they completely controlled the second half and would have won, even in that Mexico favoring heat. The PK was just a thing waiting to happen after the endless attacks.

Argentina didn't play better than Holland, they were quiet even, it was without any fouls from Argentinian side and without any schwalbes from Robben. Both teams deserved to continue, where both teams shined in their forwards in previous games, this game was controlled by the defenses. In four year Holland will be there and a lot over hyped countries like the Ticos and Mexico will nowhere to be seen, because they won't play with home advantage.

Don't give up on us just yet, we'll be back stronger and keeping the world guessing what we come up this time.

Dutch, suck it hup! As you say. You'd think you were on a submarine watching Holland play, 'Dive! Dive! Dive!' Well, no other team will be Robbened of a result they deserve in this World Cup. Praise be!

Ouch you're hurting my sensitive Dutch feelings with your wit Anyways ....on a more serious note, you don't need to like the Dutch team, but that eternal going on and on about diving getting really old , maybe we beat your favorite team, cry in your pillow and get over it....fans...

@Dutch, tactics ain't cheating, AKA deceiving the ref with intent.

Bla bla, deceiving the referee has been part of the game since day one, e.g. a guy touches the ball, it goes outside the lines, he raises his arms "I didn't touch it!". I don't know what team you support, you name it, I name your cheater. ( by the way; We Dutch people are honest to the bone, we always deceive unintentional)

The flopper is out and THAT will do me. Germany I feel will win this World Cup. This glorious journey coming to its end. Football! My love!

Holland didn't deserve another final - they couldn't score a goal, not only against Argentina but also Costa Rica. Bet they would have been aiming for penalties in the final like they tried to do last time.

For all you "soccer lovers", who are complaining about the Dutch tactics (of one man...), call the Argentinian team superior etc etc, you not real soccer lovers, but fans....a soccer lover appreciates that with tactics, teamwork and perseverance one can create a winning team out of a group of mostly young and inexperienced players, who weren't even a real team yet until the world cup started. A fan is a prejudiced shallow loud mouth, who just looks for excuses to bring the team down which brought their team down. Argentine has had a mediocre world cup and besides a few actions of messi nothing to write home about. Germany has been playing average at best, until their destruction of Brazil. Both teams which are full of regulars and experienced players stand rightfully in the final, but the Dutch did a marvelous job making it difficult for Messi&co.

Mmm that was boring, both teams strong defense killed any attacking progress. Congrats Argentina, I hope you and the Germans create a mouthwatering final!

Whether the final is Germany-Holland or Germany-Argentina, I think Germany will take the crown and they deserve it , they've been building up this team since the South African world cup, it's a real team not a one man's show.

we can only hope, pray, cross our fingers that those dirty, good actors, divers, you all know who I am talking about, get creamed by ARGENTINA! Now Argentina is our only and last hope to save the honor of LATIN AMERICAN Soccer!

Sorry to say but most Brazilian will now side with the Dutch, their hatred for Argentine is much bigger and they love real soccer to much to fall for this"we are south Americans" crap. They aren't sore losers like that central American team, we all know...

I hope it will serve as a warning to cat owners, to keep your cat inside, you never know what lunatics walk around... Or some law abiding citizen calls the city office and your dear cat ends up in the gas chamber... The owner if in existence must feel pretty stupid for being so irresponsible now.

The thumbs down are because your comments are insensitive and harsh. You know what I hate? The sounds of the screaming child from next door when I am out in my garden but such is life. I'm not going to kill the child nor am I going to complain about it because there are bigger problems in life than that.

Sure you wouldn't kill one, neither should you kill an animal, but if the kid next door poos and urinates in your garden I'd think you'd have a go at the parents or are would that be insensitive? Maybe my comments sound harsh to cat loving folks, but they're completely realistic...stray cats are a nuisance. Comparing kids to cats is just plain silly anyway and it shows how much you care about cats and how little about people... Stray cats poop in parks/gardens/ sandboxes and public places where kids are, cat poop is toxic to people, especially pregnant women and kids. The infective form of Toxoplasma gondii deposited in cat poop are called oocysts; a single infected cat can deposit millions of oocysts, each of which may survive in moist soil for 18 months or longer. It's thought that it only takes one oocyst to infect a human, which is concerning. So get of your high sensitive horse!

Erm....that's wot Silvafan is saying. That plague of cats is keeping the rodents down.

Ha ha nice job turning it around, well next time a cat poos and pees in my garden I'll go out and thank the owner for protecting our neighborhood against a rat/mice plaque...next up I'll ask the dog owners to release their dogs to protect us against the cat plaque...finally calling the police to help us with the dog plaque....

You do realize that most of the cats in cities are feral, ie have no owners, they are wild so to speak.

Not so much here in the suburbs, this is a brand new area. What's with all the thumbs down, you folks don't mind the stench of ammonia in your garden? Cats and dogs aren't wild animals and they shouldn't be treated as such. The fair amount of flat cats on the roads reminds me that most owners aren't responsible.....the only solution is to chip all cats and present their owners with a fine in case of negligence. The only way folks will listen unfortunately.

Those felines you dislike so much are the same predators that keep the rodent population down in your area. If people got those hamster you praise then don't complain when their family come to visit!

nah in my neighborhood I've never seen a rodent or any wild animal, the only plaque we suffer from are stray cats and the occasional bozozuku. But don't misunderstand me. I'm very strongly against cruelty to animals, but some of their owners deserve a lesson in good manners..especially cat people.

What is the difference between a cat dumping in your garden and another wild animal? My garden has all sorts of visitors, snakes, racoon dogs, birds, mice, foxes.... I could go on. Is it just cat crap you dislike or is fox poo equally distasteful? Let's annihilate all creatures just because they upset sensitive humans shall we?

That's a great attitude if you live in the sticks, there are no wild animals here in suburbia. A cat taking a crap in my garden where my kids play is as revolting to me as a dog taking a crap in my garden. And I know it's not the cat who's to blame, therefore taking a crap in their irresponsible owners garden is great form of "a poo for a poo". If you buy a cat keep it inside otherwise buy a freaking hamster.

I absolutely hate cats who come into my garden, and I hate their selfish irresponsible owners even more, but drowning one is just plain sick, instead he should have looked for the owners and urinate/poo in their gardens...especially the places where their kids are playing.

Pathetic fan behavior.. soccer is a physical game, especially as played by the south Americans...it was an unintentional foul taking out Brazil's number one player, it's not threatening for his career so get over it already. If it had happened to James, they'd be dancing the samba. First make a team of angels before you accuse someone of being the devil.

Posted in: Netherlands beat Costa Rica in penalty shootout See in context

Actually it was the substitute of the tournament, Van Gaal knew that Costa Rica would go for pk's and Krul trained especially for pk's by going over each player in detail....the result was that he read all pk's... not once did he dive in the wrong corner...... I say that's bothersome genius...having a goalkeeper ready who's main job's to stop penalty kicks. The only reason why break out Argentine would favorites is because they pay in front of a home crowd...Holland and the Germans have proven to be superior teams.....still I can't shake that feeling that it will be an all south American final.

Posted in: Pinto says Robben should see red for diving See in context

Robben should be banned from WC, EU and premier league for his acting and diving crime. He is a repeated offender and FIFA should not be tolerated.

Robben only dives, the other "superstars" like Neymar and co, dive AND kick. A dive might produce an unwarranted free kick or pk, but it doesn't injure players. The only player who as far as I know doesn't resort to theatrics is Messi....and he will be a legend, not the likes of Robben, Neymar, Ronaldo or Muller. Also don't forget that attackers have to resort to diving as not to get their legs kicked to pieces by over eager defenders, it's like a warning... Robben is the only player who admitted that he took a dive.....most players aren't that generous! The yellow card James received and the following free kick and goal by brazil was created by diving...Robben's pk was warranted.

The iwatch will most likely only be compatible with apple products and is therefore rendered useless for the majority. Apple also puts much emphasis on health and sports related functions...how many people care about their heart rate BMI etc, nice to have but again useless for the majority.

REAL GOOD ACTORS and those crap referees, never giving any cards against the Dutch!

Mmm watch the game once more and see how Mexico escaped a pk in the first half. And the reason why the dutch didn't get a card, is because they didn't commit a foul requiring a card. The referee was top and no we Dutch aren't ashamed, better yet, we are proud! As the saying goes "when you're in Rome, act like the Romans do", don't go screaming and crying when someone beat you at your own game!

DutchduckIt's not "sour grapes". That would be "We didn't want the World Cup anyway."Surely you folk have an equivalent expression? Zuure druiven or something?

Wow, I looked it up and you're right, thanks, so what's the proper idiom to use to describe somebody who's bitter for not getting what he wants and throws a tantrum like 5 year old? Ah wait sore losers! Slechte overpowers in Dutch.

Sour grapes, some complainers must have seen a different match, but the last 30 minutes were completely ruled by the Dutch. The Mexicans were done and the pk just released them from more suffering. Nobody steals your victory, if there wasn't one to steal one anyway. The Mexicans had a great first half, but couldn't cash in on that, they even got away with a true red card assault on Robben... I never heard so many cry babies, especially from the continent were they invented dirty play . You lost from a better team, get over it.

. It must have been heart-rending to lose like that in the final minutes.

After the 1-0 Holland put and kept the pressure on Mexico, after the 1-1. it was just a matter of waiting till Holland would sink the next goal. I'm sure Mexico wanted to push for a pk shoot out, but I'm happy it never came to that.

I can't agree more....especially about the heat thing, what numbnuts decided to have a match in the middle of the day? Holland was playing 12 opponents, a fierce Mexico and the heat.

Posted in: Report says Apple smartwatch to come this fall See in context

Back on topic, I am certainly Apple design will be so refined and it will work so seamlessly with iPhones that even people who doesn't think right now they need a smartwatch, will realize they indeed do as soon as it is launched.

I hope so, I haven't been impressed by the latest offerings of Samsung or other android makers. Apple does good design and since you don't put a watch in a 5 dollar protective cover...a nice well designed smart watch would be be great. I don't think however that Apple will ever make its watch compatible with other systems...so I guess I have to wait till motorola releases its smartphone.
