Don't remember eh? I'm sure he'll remember the day he gets kicked out of the service or thrown in the brig.

They may be free, but they're still POS... Anyway, it's just a blatant opportunistic gesture on rich dude's part.

If the Philippines does get a bunch of business from Japan--I am all for it--I hope their corrupt politicians don't screw it up, and make it a more friendly environment for foreign business. They still have a lot of work to do for infrastructure, for example. Having said that, I really do hope the P.I. benefits a lot from this.

It's pretty sad when this hatred is on a national level. I've known people from SE Asia who were subject to Japanese atrocities in WW2, and THEY'VE GOTTEN OVER IT. It also seems like Korea's main reason for existence is to beat Japan in everything. Anyway, these antics they do sure tarnishes what their country has done economically the last few decades.

Posted in: U.S. Coast Guard cannons sink tsunami ship after 4 hours See in context

Right. It only took them four hours and God knows how many shots. I wonder what that cost the U.S. taxpayer?

It would certainly cost less than the cost of an extensive environmental cleanup because this ghost ship got in the way of maritime traffic, causing a supertanker/cruise ship/fishing vessel to run aground and start leaking fuel into Alaskan waters. In which case, certain people (perhaps like you) may probably blame the USCG for not doing anything to keep this hulk away from maritime routes. And oh, it took 4 hrs for the vessel to finally sink, not 4 hours of firing rounds. Just sayin'

Just imagine some poor folks with asthma or other breathing problems having to sit in a "non-smoking" restaurant where people smoke away. I think if the people are more educated on what smoking can do to your health (as in more public health announcements, ads, etc), they'll be more considerate to others.

I could see a lot of freaked-out passengers on that flight. One would think there are certain medical/behavioral checks on pilots, but he most likely was suffering from stress and like cactusJack said, maybe forgot his meds.

Posted in: Electric cars risk losing green sheen in Japan See in context

Nuclear fission is not the only source of electricity. Engineers and innovators are constantly looking for newer, better, cleaner sources as well. I think electric cars and gas-electric hybrids will be the norm of the future, with or without nuclear energy.
