I went to see these jokers a few years back in Yoyogi when they had the Saltimbanco show. Tickets were majorly overpriced and the J-audience sat in sour-faced dumbfoundedment throughout. These guys should fork over their entire salaries to the relief, Cirque made One Billion Dollars this last year !

"The Wiz" was a huge bomb, in no way a "popular film" even with MJ as the star, considered by many to be an unmitigated disaster.

BK is the best, what are you people grousing about ? It's 100% actual beef, flame-grilled, and delivered to yer maw piping hot and delicious. BK is the best ever. Try going to First Kitchen or Lotteria to see what a crap burger is. BK haters go away !

I was quite happy to see Sanjay and Anderson here in Tokyo and even at disaster sites, kind of brought it home even more so, even made me feel relieved somehow like when Superman finally arrives. Of course, they both left soon after...

Posted in: Do you think sporting, entertainment and cultural events scheduled for the next few weeks should be canceled out of respect for the victims of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami? See in context

My wife is a dancer in Tokyo and all her group's events have been cancelled and even their training halls are closed. Suffice to say, people in the entertainment industry have been stripped of their livelihoods and many are in state of despair. Cancelling all events right through the summer will have a backlash effect on many companies who are in any way connected to entertainment.

How on earth will they ever get up there to get that down ? Where will they put all those destroyed vehicles ? It will take years and years of unrelenting manpower to tackle this herculean task.

And then they got suckered for 2 oku after that by handing out cash to anyone who walked in off the streets. What a bunch of clowns !

Posted in: Film legend Elizabeth Taylor dies at 79 See in context

Liz coasted on her looks from the 60s on in (except for Woolf in '67). Her best stuff was all before that esp. in "Cat". "Butterfield 8" is a yawnfest, another pity Oscar for missing out when she at her best. Still, end of an era, another baby boomer icon bites the dust.

Posted in: More movies pulled, delayed following earthquake disaster See in context

There has been a huge decline in foreign movies lately here anyway due to younger people being annoyed at reading subtitles. This will only hasten the demise of foreign film over here except for HP VII and the like.

Posted in: Taking precautions See in context

Our school cancelled all tests, ceremonies, parties, the works, just to be on the safe side. I saw many kids with these hoods too today. Given the precautions, wouldn't it be better to have kept them at home ?

I heard it was 800 kph. Even that one secluded cove area which had 20-foot high, three-feet thick anti-tsunami concrete walls was completed wiped out and the walls themselves smashed to bits.

Posted in: Are seatback touch screens on planes a good idea? See in context

I think those entertainment systems are a godsend to catch up on all the movies you missed all year. If you watch 5 movies, that's a value of $75 you saved by not paying to see them in a theaters. Touchscreen is hard to use for FF and Rewind and volume though, hence the poking in the back of someone's head.

The world of fashion is such rubbish anyway, he was probably bored out his mind, hence his heavy drinking. People say stupid stuff when they're hammered.

I know a fellow ex-pat who fell through the rather large gap at Yoyogi Station in Tokyo and the train actually pulled out and would have killed him had he not hid under the lip of the platform. He was unharmed but all JR did was sent a station flunky over to his apartment with a box of cookies to placate him. He was majorly steamed to say the least.

Great plan. I'm from Calgary and can never get a seat on those direct flights. Maybe finally I'll get a seat but I doubt it as travel companies block buy the seats and nothing remains even months in advance.

Ditto on constantly unplugging things, filling the sink full of dishes and then letting all the glasses float on top all night without soaking in the water instead, making way too much food every night, moving my stuff around, always saying "sukareta" all day, incessantly watching Japanese wretched TV, etc.
