That is a loop tactic used by Abe, he gives China and Korea a kick, then offers some sweet talks for which the world is his target audience, sometime later, Abe would just give his second kick...and the loop keeps on.

smithinjapan : After sending an offering to Yasukuni. Like I said, Abe always does this kind of thing after intentionally aggravating ties so as to try and look good to the international community.

Good crisis management is needed for such a crisis, but most political leaders and government officials don't have the proper training for crisis management, it is difficulty to establish a one for all system and procedures to deal with every crisis beforehand. When the crisis happens, It takes time for the government to find out the proper way for rescue, but it may be too late.

In a disaster like this, Korean authority has been in a chaos, first, they have no time to think about whether JSDF can help or not, secondly, the co-ordination of rescue operation is a tough challenge.

USA keeps moving jobs and investing in China and has a trade deficit with China over $200 billions a year.

I have no data for how much US are investing in China, as for the trade deficit, US just need to issue treasury bonds to exchange for the goods and services provided by China, I think it is a good deal for US, all it have to do is switch on the printing machine for US notes and bonds.

I see no conflict of interest for China and Japan in the prosperous Asia. The oil resources can't be utilized if the disputes persist, there is no benefit for the people in both countries if a war breaks out. Don't be fooled by the politicians .

Posted in: China tightening customs inspections for Japanese products See in context

In the age of internet, some Japanese are still so ignorant of the history and turn a blind eye to the sovereign evidence put forwarded by China. I guess the reason for that isn't the lack of true information available, but a lack of objectivity, and the tendency to hold their prejudice forever.

KariHaruka, there is worry among Chinese that Japanese right-wing would gain increasing support if the young generation don't know the history. I myself saw a lot of Japanese movie or TV, when it came to WWII, Japanese just played the role of victim and never condemned their elder generation for waging the war. Most Chinese are willing to forgive but there will be no real reconciliation if Japan denies its wrongdoings and accuses China as the aggressor.

@KariHaruka,

As I noted in this forum, many people, I presume most are Japanese, actually didn't know well the history and the war crime committed by Japanese army. That is the obstacle for developing good relationship with Chinese people.

@Nz2011, nice to discuss with you. For " such minor islands as we determine." , the "we" means the Allies, ie including China. I understand your point for the land ownership in history. Matters for human beings isn't a simple scientific issue. There may be grey area calling for wisdom of people from Japan and China.

tokyo-star, a population isn't necessary in this case. Actually, there are more details and I hope Japanese and Chinese people should have a friendly discussion for fact-finding first, and both sides can then have their own opinions.

The islands has been part of China much earlier than Japanese claimed it as "no-man land", a lot of documents have proved the fact. Moreover, the Potsdam Agreement clearly states that: "Japanese sovereignty shall be limited to the islands of Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku and such minor islands as we determine."

China is always telling other countries to remain calm and keep open dialog in resolving any dispute. What are they displaying here ??? Open dialog " we'll use any measure "

To the contrary, China has demonstrated high degree of patience and tolerance. It seems that you guy never know what happened outside Japan. China has repetitively warmed Japan of the serious consequence if Japan goes ahead the purchase of the islands.
