It seems that some people think the economy is very good in Japan now.

Japan certainly would suffer more than China, think it over and you will know it. Japan will more and more rely on US and become a de facto colony of US, a road far from being a normal country.

I think US has a plan to use Japan as the front line to contain China. Asia will be in deeper chaos.

while i don't blame the average Japanese for not being sensitive on the Chinese anniversary of Mukden incident (just because they were perhaps never taught the proper history)

It is also to my surprise that some people here are so ignorant of history. The Japan government seems to be dominated by some politician with little experience in foreign affairs.

What Panetta said is nothing new, why some people here feel frustrated for it ? It just proved that they are so biased. They are always self-centered.

Man, don't be naive, all the news are just focusing on the violence scenes. In fact, there are just a few cars damaged, it isn't much for the protests with millions people.

All human beings need to adapt to each other for living in the same planet. If either one side insists on their idea without compromise, then they will have to pay a much higher price. US may stand a good chance to win a war, but how can American guarantee 100% safety from terrorist's attack. Does anyone want to spend a lot of time everyday for security check , in airplane, in cinema, for beverage, food etc.?

Many people here just think the Chinese government is promoting anti-Japan emotion in China. To the contrary, the Chinese government has adopted a friendly policy towards Japan, the foreign ministry is dominated by pro-Japan officials. Since Japanese politician stirred up the disputes by purchasing the islands, Chinese people think their government has betrayed the national interest and demand a tough stance towards Japan.

@RomeoRII,

War isn't a resolution, how can America escape from all terrorist's attack ? US has to find a peaceful way to get along with other religions or countries unless US use nuke to eliminate them from the earth.

If you go to restaurant, would you said something offensive to the people sitting around? That isn't about freedom of speech, it is social norm. America should learn to respect other and talk in a civilized way.

Only the stupid would take a fight at home, what is the benefits for Chinese and Japanese if Asia is in chaos? Don't be fooled by US, US just want to fish in the troubled water in Asia.

In fact, both sides can't utilize the resources there if the disputes continues. Having a war for it is nonsense and do no good for the both the Chinese and Japanese, except the US may profit from the arms sales.

The war crime committed by Japan was serious. The Japanese army was the cruelest in the world, even worse than Nazi. Some Japanese movie and TV have mentioned the WWII, they all condemned the Allies for the Japanese people's suffering in WWII, but never condemned the Japanese government for waging the War.

If one knows the Japanese war crime in WWII, he won't be surprised to see the chaos.

OssanAmerica:The entire wotrld does;t buy that nonsense.

The entire wotrld doesn't buy the unilateral sovereignty claim by Japan, even US doesn't recognize it. The Japanese people would fall into the trap setup by the politician.

It is better to put aside the disputes since Japan can't utilize anything there if the sovereign is in dispute.

Why stir up the issue by purchasing the disputed islands? What is the benefits for Japanese people?

Purchasing the disputed islands is to stir up the issue. It is too naive for Japanese people to fall into the game setup by the politicians in Japan and US. US will never sacrifice any lives for a war with China. China and Japan will have to bear the costs in conflict and US will be the beneficiary, at least to make a profit in arms sales.

@OssanAmerica

Your statement contained many factual errors, the disputes arose in 70s because US hand over the administration of Diaoyu Islands to Japan in 1970.

At least, Japanese and Chinese should know well the factual data put forwarded by each other. I found many people here just mistaken factual data and that won't lead to a good discussion as to how to resolve the difference in viewpoint and opinions.

Rounin said "No. War is war. During war, atrocities of all kinds are committed. There is really no such thing as human mercy. Americans, Germans, Italians, British, Chinese, Japanese and so on all committed terrible war crimes. "

Please read a good book of history, you may know that the imperial Japanese army was the most cruelest army in the world, more than Nazi.

Diaoyu Islands has been territory of China since hundreds years ago. China failed to exercise sovereignty since Japan occupied Taiwan in 1895 and invaded China in WWII. After WWII, the USA handed over the Islands administration to Japan while China was in fierce civil war and then struggled in the Cultural Revolution, a severe internal disorder. Japan took advantage of these opportunities to control the Islands while China was in chaos. Japan would be so shameless as to take advantage of that to say China didn't claim at that time. ( as shameless as Japan making the sudden attack on Pearl Harbor)
