Posted in: 55% of Okinawans unhappy with 50 years since reversion to Japan: poll See in context

I get the Okinawans' feelings, there's nothing more annoying than arriving to beautiful Okinawa only to find heaps of loud and obnoxious Americans everywhere, yelling at locals in English and acting like if they own the place.

Posted in: Should you wear a mask on a plane, bus or train when there's no mandate? See in context

What mandate? In Japan it is a personal choice. I have only worn them in places where I really have to be at and I'm verbally told by the staff to wear one (and even then the 'chin guard' fit has been sufficient), on airplanes or Shinkansen I always make sure I have a drink so as not to use one.

I abhor masks, it is not normal to have something covering your breathing holes and they give me claustrophobia; I will never comply with this circus.

Go along to their next game. Change their minds with a rousing chant. I’m sure you’ll be a great success.

I'd do it but I can't stand baseball, I don't want to die of boredom.

I don't feel sorry for them, it's their fault for complying with the dumb rule.

Posted in: Gov't weighs ¥50,000 cash handouts for low-income families' children See in context

I agree that more help should be given to the unfortunate right now however, when is the government going to push big companies to pay fair wages and to give full benefits to their employees? That would be more helpful than just keep givin 'gibs' and letting the money-printing machine go 'brrr'. If my small company of 4 employees can do it, big multinationals certainly can do it too.

From May 1, the airline will remove its no jab, no fly vaccination policy for international customers.

Excellent! UK, Denmark, Mexico, UAE and now NZ. Lots of great places to visit for us who refused to comply with big pharma and the governments. Fam and I already planning a trip to one of those places.

Posted in: Dollar rises to highest level against yen since June 2015; stocks fall See in context

I don't care, most of my income comes from assets valued in USD, I'm honestly hoping for a 200 Yen dollar, good for exports and once the government decides to stop the circus and open the country, you'll have all these American Japanophiles spending their ドル in the land of the rising sun. Win -win for most.

Posted in: Tokyo sees week-on-week rise in COVID cases for 4th straight day See in context

Since the seat belts were invented the number of victims of traffic accidents have only gone up.

Well the thing is cars are way more powerful than they were back at the time of seatbelt invention, car ownership became more common and we have heaps of years to compare data and what not. Similar parameters can't be applied to the rona vaxx.

Having a kid is always a wonderful thing and I wish the new parents the best in the parenthood journey, that said, if their visa doesn't allow them to have their kid here the best thing for them and us as taxpayers is for them to go back to Sri Lanka.
