Posted in: Japan reports 47,621 new coronavirus cases See in context

Until when will these numbers be reported in Japan? Do people still care about them? Serious questions.

Posted in: What do you think of bicycling etiquette in Japan? See in context

There's no etiquette at all.

Cyclists here think they own the road and carelessly cycle around traffic, when I drive, while I exercise extreme caution and patience with children, the elderly and mama-charis I have no qualms about zoom passing cyclists (the types that wear spandex pants) and food delivery guys at high speed. Stay on the side walk, stick to mountain roads or cycling courses and leave the roads to cars.

Posted in: Victims of crime are often helpless on their own when it happens. People need to practice calling for help loudly and instantly, even if they have a mask on, from a very young age. See in context

you will also need to teach adults to intervene

As a foreigner or a non-asian naturalised citizen like yours truly. You should never ever get involved in a crime in Japan even if trying to help, the system is rigged against you and the criminal will always win. Advice from my lawyer: turn a blind eye and mind your own business unless the victim is a family member or a close friend.

Posted in: Car driven by 97-year-old man kills woman, injures 4 in Fukushima See in context

No one over the age of 60 (65 max with strict tests) should be allowed to drive period. I never understood the selfishness of grampas who refuse to give up their 'right' to drive a car.

Posted in: To mask or not to mask? G20 gathers nations with divergent COVID rules See in context

Leave up to the individual, why do we have to fight for something as stupid as someone wearing a mask, I personally hate them and never wear them, but I don't go and bother people who still wanna cling to them. As long as they don't bother me I don't care.

Poor lady, probably pushed to do it by the biggest psyop in the history of humanity.

As for me no vaccine, no worries of unknown long-term side effect.

I just hope those who chose to do it, especially family and friends, don't end up regretting their decision later in life like the family of the woman in the article.

People should not be allowed to be parents unless they pass a rigorous parenting and financial test. I can believe this kind of negligent acts keep happening.

Are these people stupid? Printing more money to combat inflation is akin to put off a fire with petrol. Do not keep your money in yen, people!

I hate most people between 18 and 25 and no power on earth would make me go there, that said, what's the problem with letting them have fun? Also, is it just an onegai or an actual crime? If it's the former, good luck enforcing that thing, I would tell them to leave me alone.

Posted in: Koike looking for tourists See in context

Koike brought a battalion of bodyguards... Those gaijin must be scary...

When Abe was killed in Nara loads of people here on JT criticised the lack of security, now they criticise Koike for the excess of it... Those gaijin must complain about everything...

What's with the ridiculous face masks, Koike san?

While I, myself, abhor masks and never use them, I don't care if someone else wants to don one. Aren't we behaving exactly like the mask lovers who wanted to force those things upon us if we make fun of them for wearing them? I'd say live and let live, we freedom lovers are better than this.

it's taking a very long time for this to happen, to the great detriment of this society and especially the development of its children.

Spot on! I'm also hoping for the same, and if not, at least it will encourrage non-yamato looking people to not hesitate about going maskless everywhere. I've been doing that for a while but I know people who don't want to ditch the mask so as not to offend the locals or not wanting to stick out.

I don't see any problem with reopening the embassy. Anyways, there isn't seem to be any problem there anymore, you know after seen pictures of locals in Kiev partying, Hollywood do-gooders and politicians visiting and even the Zelensky posing like a super model for Vogue like nothing is happening makes me thing there is nothing to fear about. So go ahead normalise everything.
