If your wife doesn't treat you like crap on occassion then I assume she's still treating you like a customer. To me smiles are too easily contrived, and while smiles are great for the outward appearance of a happy couple, I go to extra lengths to make my relationship a safe zone for emotional sparring. Sometimes I get dealt a low blow or two, but the result is an understanding of our strengths, weaknesses, boundries, and shared spaces..

Today we have 20 plus kids sick with the flu in one class .. And as the foreigner teacher is walking to class, one Japanese co worker says "wear a mask!" and the neighboring co workers says "he has that nose, so don't worry" .. unintentional maybe, but I call it racist. I hear these kind of comments so frequently. .. . I just feel that people are either ignorant when it comes to international issues.

Japanese do have a hard time taking criticism, and the worst part is by now the international community should have taken the fukushima problem out of their hands already, cleaned it up, and put Tepco (too big to fail) out of business, with the sole future purpose of shutting down what they have started. But congratulations on winning the olympics ..
