Japan needs more lock downs since half the politicians are tied to -x--x--

//i think Japan got a little too overconfident after groups.

I think the Messiah Coach got too lofty and forgot to factor in PK.

You can see that he subbed off Doan - the best penalty kicker.

Morocco had a plan (& skills) for the PK including a paneka.

If you just observe the body language and run up - 90% of the time - you can tell if he is going to score or miss.

some teams just stroke the ball on the left or the right & expect the goalie to jump to the wrong side.

Clearly tHE mASTER Tactician coach had not prepared the team for Pen Kicks.

He subbed out Doan - who is the only hot shot for the team. The 4th kicker is a veteran of many games & yet he only shot limply ground level. Very Wasteful after 4 yrs of hard-work. You don't get to this stage of the WC very often and Croatia is a beatable team..

///Well, I'm going to get some eggs thrown at me for this, but Japan played much better in the game with Costa Rica than in the game with Germany. The loss itself was simply unlucky.////

never know if they played better or worst - 5 different players.

in terms of goals scored - not better.

in terms of shots on target - not better. (3 compared to 9 )

in terms of shots off target - not better. (4 compared to 11 )

in terms of calibre of opposition players - not better.

in terms of ball possession (ahh much better 57% )

Unlucky. still.

///// Having given a mea culpa for his team's showing, Moriyasu said he is concerned with the degree of criticism leveled at his players. //

NO. there has been no criticism at the players.

ALL the criticism is on the Bakayaro Manager.

///Did you even watch the game yesterday? Japan had 3 shots on goal. Costa Rica had 1 which went in. Why would Japan's goals against be lucky and Costa Rica's not?

Japan has zero shots in the first half or for at least 60 minutes. All 3 shots came after the 70-th min.

Negative mentality dont win games.

Why not even give your best players like Ito /Mitoma / Minamino a full game? makes no sense.

It's like France resting Mbappe until the 3rd game or Brasil resting Neymar & crew.

//Since German and Spain drawed Japan now need at least a draw against Spain. Tough, but hopefully the counterattack style they played against Germany can be effective again.//

DRAW is not enough. Germany will win big against Costa Rica.

Unfortunately a win against a form team like Spain is big ask. Spain don't want to draw or lose.

/// Oh how quickly they turn from making the guy out to be a god into being the devil. Just goes to show how fickle the "fans" here are.

nah - the fans have a right to be livid because if you beat the one of the weakest team in the WC after Qatar - you are into the Quarters BUT then you decided to rest all your better players. I could only think of 1 thing: the manager assume even his second stringers can easily beat Costa Rica.

Not trusting your first XI - now that's Fickle. The manager is fickle

/// Its only fair that everyone gets a go. thats whats most important.

No. that's not part of any winning mentality unfortunate if you want to win the WC

BIG MISTAKE. The manager will be sacked for too much tinkering by leaving out his best players.

I doubt they will get even a point against Spain when they can't even have a single shot at goal versus Costa Rica. They just got a couple of lucky breaks versus Germany,
