I can't agree with all the fighting back comments. The article has mentioned that the nutjob was asking for panties. I would think giving it to him would be better than aggravate an already crazy guy, What's the loss of a panty compared to your safety or life? Better to just try to get as much info/description of the nut to give later to the police.

In the visual sense, I think the deadpan dancers are similar to Robert Palmers' Simply Irresistible mannequin like backup dancers and similar artistic expressions have been used many times before in music videos. Subjectively I do agree though with borax above, whereby I can't escape feeling that there's an undertone of Japanese elation whenever some aspects of Japanese culture or lifestyle are adopted overseas even if they're somewhat stereotypical & even unrealistic to a certain degree, especially by the West.

What I find unsettling is the "need" by Japan/Japanese to feel "approved" by the West and what such visuals will add to the Japanese stereotype in Western eyes. Although I think that since stereotyping itself is quite common in Japan, perhaps due in part to the Japanese group mentality in the culture; Japanese people don't mind they themselves being stereotyped as much as the West think they do.

Too many people I see in daily life here have irresponsible attitudes towards public places. They seem to think once it's in a public place somehow their responsibility ends there. I see people throwing their rubbish on the ground when there's a waste bin just like a meter away. I could never understand this.

On another note, I think many people here don't "get" how to properly have a barbie, especially outdoors with matters of safety and cleaning up after themselves.

I was attacked by a stupid dog owned by a stupid owner when I was a kid but got over it as I grew up. I worked with a lot of dogs on a farm for many years. they were working dogs and I haven't seen any other animal beat their courage, dedication and loyalty even when they have to confront animals much bigger than themselves.

Their virtues aside, they are still dogs, they are animals. I don't subscribe to some people's views that they are somehow "human" and can do no wrong. What they do depends on a certain level to their training, breed and individual temperament. I believe it is totally the owner's responsibility when a dog misbehaves. I have shed tears when a dog died, and on the other hand I have also personally put down a dog when it had shown violent behavior traits and attacked people and livestock regardless of the training and care we have given it. To reiterate, dogs are dogs and I believe since we are the apes with the bigger brain, we are the ones who should be responsible. Hope the kid recovers without lifelong scars.

Give the girl a break! Telling people to have the imagination to follow their dreams is a positive thing, especially in Japan where your path in life seems to be "mapped out" by societal pressures. I heard she choreographs her dances and has input on her music too. We may not think she's a musical prodigy but she's creating something. Employment for other people amongst others. She has done a lot more than other people and I have done at her age. Credit where credit is due I think.

I'd always thought Keith Richards wouldn't last long due to his lifestyle, but nowadays I find myself quite surprised that he's sort of becoming a role model of the kind of guy you don't mind growing old to be. Still healthy enough to perform and rock at 70!

There's nothing "wrong", it's just that the risk of Down syndrome and similar increases as the mother grows older. Some people try hard to have kids and when they do at a later age, sometimes this happens. It's quite a sad story.

Geez, sad indeed. I feel sorry for the homeless people, and I wonder how they're doing in the cold weather. Maybe it is true, the more you steal the lighter the sentence.

The positive thing about this I think is that his colleagues actually did something about it. It would just be too easy for them to ignore his behavior and turn a blind eye since "He's one of us after all", but they didn't. Some hope there.

People driving recklessly, bicycles with no lights at night dashing through an intersection from blind corners, kids running in the middle of the road and general disregard for self preservation & traffic rules will be hard to program.
