So they are basically just replacing one kind of zero emissions bus with a near identical zero emissions bus, not really something that needs much of a fanfare or announcement

These are the last right hand drive trolleybuses still in active service in the world. So you're wrong there.

Japanese Peso collapsing just before Taro and Yuki's annual golden week trip to 'Hawai'. The old saying keep em lean and keep em keen comes to mind.

Japan lost to Europe in the bid for high-speed rail in Aussie a few years ago due to communication issues etc.

Which bid was that? There's not a single metre of high speed railway in Australia either built or under construction.

Japan seems to attend a lot of summits these days, but they never seem to go by anywhere.

And even fewer results or benefits from these gabfests.

The Tokyo Hire-Taxi Association, one of the operators involved in the project

Stop right there driver. Taxi companies and their associates should have zero to do with this.

If not Uber, why not let Grab in, who are elsewhere in Asia, and stop re-inventing wheels (pun intended).

Posted in: New Zealand tightens visa rules amid near record migration See in context

NZ’s infrastructure is a shambles.

Sounds more like the problem is the New Zealand government (of all stripes) not spending enough on building urban infrastructure let alone maintaining what exists. Auckland's urban transit system is far too focused on road transport for instance.

But it's far easier to blame immigrants and pander to racists who oppose any immigration. It strokes their bellies and makes the government look like it's doing something.

Completely overhyped trash. Always was, always will be. Anyone who was alive in the 80s will remember that no one dared to say they loved this insipid band. That's how it should have stayed.

He also said European drivers typically start racing at a younger age than drivers in Japan. He also added in cultural and linguistic barriers. Both Iwasa and Tsunoda speak English well and do interviews in English.

They also start learning and using English as a second language much earlier and aren't embarrassed to make mistake.

Posted in: Japanese company uses 'crow language' to keep them away from garbage See in context

Is there any reason why Japan doesn't have wheelie bins?

They take up too much space.

They'd also spoil the fun of your neighbourhood busy body with nothing else to do but go through your garbage and then complain to the council about it.

The council would then have to fire a third of their workforce for being too efficient.
