Final Fantasy! What an idiot! How long has he been doing this? What were his intentions? He'll get a reprimand and be back at it within a month.

Well, that has to be the most idiotic thing I have heard in a long time. What would the consequences have been for this unsuspecting individual if he had been stopped by police after leaving the airport. I guess the upside is, he would not have had to work again after all the litigation had finished. I sincerely hope this person intends to file a suit against them for this stupid act. And, the idiot who did it should be fired without notice. Reprimanded??? - What a joke!

Seven Basic Reasons why people commit suicide:

A. Depression: 1. Over emphasis on materialism --- which does not satisfy. 2. Inability to cope with life's challenges or personal problems. 3. Guilt because of sin. 4. Long term illness / relief of pain. B. Bitterness: 1. Unforgiving spirit. 2. Unresolved hurts. C. Insecurity: 1. Identity crisis. 2. Family breakdown. D. Rejection: 1. Results of failure / defeat / disobedience. 2. Hopelessness. 3. Never able to satisfy. E. Rebellion: 1. Problem dealing with authority. 2. Pride --- self is own authority. 3. Assertion of self --- desire to be # 1. F. Impulse: 1. Copy Cat / Cluster suicides. 2. Misplaced loyalty. 3. Confusion. G. Revenge: 1. Dying for a cause. 2. To "get back at" someone. 3. Their desire to hurt is stronger than the desire to live.

H) All of the above!

And to brand 30,000 people like Kawata-san who take their lives every year here as twits, without knowing a thing about them shows incredible ignorance and arrogance.

And then, how would you brand them Jerseyboy? Friends? Society's lost children? People unable to function within a society? People who missed the last bus to the doctor? Or, as I said, self-indulgent twits?

You should have a conversation with my friend's seven year old daughter whose mother took her own life three months ago. She will help you gain a different perspective from behind your rose colored glasses. Oh, and did I mention my friend's daughter found the body too???

Unreal! I guess everyone knows of someone who has committed suicide in Japan if you have lived here few years. 30,000 people do this every year in Japan. Two of my wife's friends have done it in the last three years. I have no sympathy for these self-indulgent imbeciles! I'm always surprised by the bleeding hearts that sympathize with these twits!

Posted in: Man leaps to death from Tokyo's Rainbow Bridge See in context

Well, if that doesn't beat all! Someone has used a somewhat traditional method of suicide. A similar thing happened at a bridge in Brisbane a few years ago. It became notorious for jumpers, so the BCC installed a 3m high fence along the length of the bridge to stop people from jumping. The main issue cited was, jumpers leaving their cars on the roadway and jumping with their keys. Now, the ever inventive suicidal individuals steal three and five ton trucks, so they can stand on the roofs of the trucks to leap to their death.

Posted in: Hostessing an honorable profession, young women say See in context

Yep, been to one 'gent's club', got ripped off, watered down drinks, ugly hostesses rotated every ten minutes, totally disappointed! Honor? The only reason honor would come into this topic is because most of the girls keep their honor by not going to bed with (all) the punters, although, their dignity must take a serious beating!

The lack of obstetricians and trained mid-wife staff at most public hospitals is alarming. We have had both our kids at private maternity hospitals. I can't complain about the treatment although, due to my previous experiences with Jpese hospitals and doctors I was ready to take over at any given point!

Didn't you all know physical punishment/abuse is the way all Japanese discipline their kids? It's the done thing! In order to solve issues with children without abuse you need to common sense. Therein lies the problem. Condolences to the mother.

I agree, it does seem a bit suspicious, but no one in this forum is in a position to make a judgment based on the facts available. We all know what happens when you assume something. You make an ass out of u and me.

Posted in: 2-yr-old boy who survived 9th floor fall in March dies after choking himself with backpack strap See in context

Yeah, but a kid recovering from a major injury is less likely to be up to no good, which has 'probably' lead to his mother's complacency. It's like the old joke - Where do you find a dog with no legs?..... Right where you left it.

Posted in: 2-yr-old boy who survived 9th floor fall in March dies after choking himself with backpack strap See in context

A very sad accident. It is easy to say the mother was inattentive, but it's also impossible to watch two year olds every second, although, common sense does tell one that, if a two year old is quiet something is amiss.

I guess the gods must have really wanted this kid.

Ridiculous! Good to see Japan is keeping with its tradition of no bag limits, no line limits and no boating safety regulations. I wonder if dynamite and cyanide are illegal methods of fishing.

Ah, now I get it. This is to depict how their parents are getting seriously ripped off by a private school system that is really nothing more than creative accounting to show school averages greater than those of public schools. It's hard to imagine the significance and justification of sending your six year old kid to school in a thousand dollar uniform.

Posted in: Man arrested for killing ex-wife in Fukushima after crashing into her car See in context

Unless you have actually lived through a divorce involving kids it's very difficult to imagine the emotions that take over rational thought. And yes, unfortunately, a lot of women do use the kids as leverage against the father in attempt to gain control of the situation. This domestic situation all too often ends in the death of one or all of the people involved. There was a case in Australia a coupla years ago where a father drowned his three little boys on father's day by driving his car into a dam. His reasoning was to get back at his ex-wife. Sad!

Posted in: Mother arrested for attempting to kill 5-yr-old son with hydrogen sulfide gas in Saga See in context

This crap has somehow gotta be stopped. 50 people took their own lives last month with this gas. The saddest thing is, even if the sale of these products was restricted (if possible) these desperados would find another way to end their life. The Jp gov really has got to get on top this suicide epidemic and try to educate people. Romulus3 mentioned "cracks in Japan's mental health system". Cracks?!?! I think a closer metaphoric analogy would be, The Grand Canyon!

100k p/h? Somehow, I don't think so. We also must remember, as bad as the photo looks the doors and roof were cut off to get to the idiots inside. Too often I see rich twits in their Euro sports cars and they couldn't drive a greasy finger up their *+#>!!!!

This photo is OK. The tall girl raises the bar to the next level for me. It's just a shame this promotion wasn't for something more important like, save young Japanese from gassing themselves.
